Front upvc door problem

Hi can someone help me with some advice please? I have just moved into a new house and want to lay some laminate flooring in the hall way. There is problem though! The front upvc door is extremely low and there is hardly any gap between the bottom of the door and the floor boards! The gap is about 10mm at most. I have tried raising the door as much as i can by but its still too low to be able to lay laminate. What options have I got? I would settle for vinyl but you cannot lay it directly onto floor boards

Is there room to lay some plywood over the floorboards so you can then lay vinyl?#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

With only 10mm to play with I don't think so

Are the floorboards nice enough to sand and varnish etc?0

Yeah they are but I would prefer some floor coverings0

Make a deliberate foot well with a 'door mat' inlaid into it then start your laminate from there onwards.
Floor mat will trap nasty, laminate unfriendly stones that you may walk in the house with
Just an idea

Ruski has provided a very useful idea.
You'll also need to add in the thickness of laminate underlay. This can vary from around 3mm (for budget underlay) to around 10-12mm (high-end underlay). Add in the 7mm of a laminate and you're possibly looking at more than 10mm.
The other thing is that the gap to the bottom edge of you door seems to be extremely low - this is quite unusual. You normally have a threshold of some kind so that water and dirt doesn't enter into your house.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -

Maybe the door is lower on the outside or, possibly, previous owner (assuming the new just means new to the OP) had mobility issues and needed a low access to make stepping in/out easier.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thank you Honey Bear0 -
It's a front UPVC door. The inside of the door is the problem as it is actually lower on the inside than the main structure of the door for some reason0
