Most people go into marriage with the thought that it's going to be 'happy ever after' but we all know, that it doesn't always end up being that, you've got to be realistic about these things. If one partner has a lot more assets than the other, then IMO, it makes sense to protect them.

I am sure there are many various complications but is there an approximate settlement someone might reasonably expect to see that would look after me and any children we might have together? (I think someone answered half the difference in an increase in wealth between marriage and divorce if no children are involved as a likely outcome)

I will get a lawyer if it's necessary in the end, but I want to be as informed as possible beforehand

In this instance I can totally see why he'd want a prenup, if I had that much money etc, then I'd want one too....the old romantic that I am! :rotfl: Seriously though, I just think its being practical..
