What proof should i get from SCS for changing order and also possible mis-selling

Hi all
Not sure if this is in the correct place.
Today i have purchased 2 sofa's on finance from SCS. Upon returning home i found out about their unscrupulous reputation which had i known in advance would have stopped me buying from them. My issue is that when purchasing we were unsure as to wether we could fit 2 x 3 seaters or a 3 and a 2 seater, the salesman told us just to order the 3 seaters and if it needed changed to phone them and they would ammend the order. Anyway as it turned out we cannot fit both bigger sofas and have asked to change to a 3 and a 2, we phoned the store and have been told this will be fine and we have to go back in tomorrow to sign a new credit agreement.
So getting to my point, i may be being overly cynical but after reading about SCS's reputation and the fact you cannot cancel an agreement i would like absolute proof that the original credit agreement/order has been cancelled before i sign for anything else. The last thing i want is them claiming we have 2 different orders from them. I'm not sure what proof i should obtain tho so any help on what i should ask for would be much appreciated.
Also on a secondary point, i feel we may have been slightly mis-sold and to be honest im not overly happy with it and would actually quite like to cancel the whole order out of principle and go somewhere else. My wife had decided she wanted the insurance, we were told this would cost £1.50 a month, importantly we were also told it came with a cleaning kit. However just before we signed the documents my wife noticed that the figures were not adding up,with the insurance costing a total of £270. upon questioning the salesman he said that the insurance was not £1.50 p/m but infact "around £5 p/m" because we were not putting down a deposit (we had never stated at any time we were putting a deposit down) my wife decided to go ahead with it anyway. It turns out the cost is around £5.60 but we phoned up the SCS call centre to ask details of the insurance and they informed us that the insurance is calculated at £40 per seat plus £30 for the cleaning kit. We both feel it was clearly inferred that this cleaning kit came as part of the insurance and not at an additional cost, otherwise i would never have went for it. Im not sure if i have any comeback to this but any advice or experience would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance

You signed the agreement in store. Unless there is a cooling off period, they don't have to do anything.
She knew the figures and went ahead anyway.
Really what you want to do is cancel the lot as you've got buyers remorse and signed in haste, correct?0 -
Yeah i know that, i just feel we were mis sold the insurance a bit, its more a point of principle, i dont see us trying to cancel but id like to get this £30 cleaning kit removed.
My main point was i want to make sure the original order is cancelled before we sign for the new/ammended order as i dont want 4 sofas turning up and SCS saying weve signed for 2 different orders.0 -
They won't usually put the agreement through until the next day. So they probably won't have processed it, so will rip it up and re do the order for the new value.0

Ok, thanks for that. I would like the reassurance of this being done infront of me or some sort of proof rather than just taking them at their word0

Just ask them to show you the destroyed original.0

The insurance should have a cooling off period so should be easily cancelled, what does the paperwork you have say ?,0
-
Thanks, your right the paper work does say that the insurance has a 14 day coolong off period.
I've woke up this morning and to be honest i do have buyers remorse, i know this isnt SCS's fault but im just not comfertable with the deal any more. Unfortunately SCS operate a no cancellations policy. What im wondering is, as i said previously we have to go down today to sign a new agreement as the order has changed, so if they cancel the old order but then we refuse the new order will they have any comeback on us? Or will we basically get away with the order being cancelled?
Thanks0 -
They won't cancel the old order they will just amend it, you wont be that lucky.0

You do really need to wise up to this stuff, you've signed a contract which is legal and binding.youve gone in there with no idea of what fits, signed a contract despite being unhappy at the time with how they portrayed the insurance.
Yes you were missold the insurance, but as yet, not the sofas.0 -
Yeah i suppose i have to accept that although im sure we're not the 1st couple to fall for high pressure sales tactics and then regret it later, however i am annoyed with myself in this case as im normally pretty careful.
Anyway for anyone whos interested we went down to SCS yesterday to sign our new agreement. We had already contacted the online customer services to see what we should be paying and it should have £90 less than previously (£50 rediction in sofa due to moving from 3 seater to 2 seater and a £40 reduction in insurance as this is calculated on a £40 per seat basis). However when we got down ther we noticed there was only a £20 reduction in the cost. It turns out that not only had they not reduced the insurence to account for the lower number of seats but the salesman had decided - entirely of his own accord- to add on another £30 cleaning kit t our order! We were fuming with this and told them to cancel the insurance altogether, the salesman was clearly irritated by this and tried to put a bit of pressure on my wife saying how he would have to do another finance application now and how she might not get approved (even though the day previously she had been appoved for an ammount £300 higher!), to which she said thats fine, if thats the case she'll just cancel the order. I also dug him up on my he had claimed the insurance was £1.50 a month when in fact it is closer to %5.60 p/m. He stated that was based on us putting down a deposit. I pressed him further by saying (a) we had never said we were putting down a deposit and (b) what size of deposit would have been required to reduce the price by 70 odd %. He was now clealry flustered and also annoyed and stated that a"ny" deposit would have reduced the price to £1.50 p/m. I then asked then if i put £50 down there and then would the cost of insurance come down to £1.50, at this point he just said "oh i have to go" and basically ran away. 5 mins later a ereceptionist came and said our new papers (minus all insurance, kits etc) were ready. I found the whole process disgusting to be honest, and while i accept that salesmen will always try and bend the truth a little i feel this guy had down right lied to us through the process.
In relation to my main point about obtaining evidence that the previous order had been cancelled, i was told that this was impossible as the original order documentation had been destroyed. After everything else that had happened i am not entirely comfertable with this. I intend to phone up SCS today to see how many orders they have for us on their system, my worry however is that they have 2 different orders signed by my wife and basically have us banged to rights that we're due the 2 orders.
For what it is worth i would NEVER use this company again and warn anybody i knew not to use them0
