Don't phone them, write to them and send it via email and via hard copy so if at any point in the future they try to pull any shenanigans you have it in writing.
  • I visited your Harlow store on Thursday and discussed with store manager Sue Manks the possibility of purchasing two 3 seater sofas on show at the store. I was informed that I could only have a 2 seater + 3 seater as the stock had been bought in for the bank holiday and could only be sold that way. I finally agreed to buy the sofas and paid a total of £2629 for delivery the following week. When I checked online the following day, the exact same sofas were £463 cheaper. I rang the store straight away and I was informed someone would call me back but no one did. Eventually I spoke to the store manager Sue Manks who informed me that she would honour the online price but delivery would be 14 weeks. I can not understand how I could have delivery within 2-3 days if I paid the store price but the cheaper price would mean I waited 14 weeks, as she knew at the time when the order was placed that the stock was ready to go. I found her attitude very unprofessional for a store manager, and told her so, especially as she was the one who advised on the stock situation in the first place. I am now in a situation where I have no sofa and a feeling that, as a company, you are trying to inflate prices and con members of the public. I am not leaving it here and will post this message to every forum I can unless something is done

I would strongly advise you to cancel the order and go elsewhere. SCS (Harlow in particular) have been a nightmare for me and at 1 year and 5 days old one of my sofas (the 2 seater which one person used to sit on) broke beyond repair (not that they would repair it for free as I was 5 days out of the warranty) and so I have ended up getting a new set elsewhere. AVOID!

Things change in price - granted I wouldn't be too happy but you agreed to buy them at a price, and SCS will supply them at that price.

I really cannot see the problem - the reduced items are obviously cheaper as they're made or delivered to order and as such have a long lead time. If you want the convenience of having them in the next few days you need to pay for it. :)

Have you not read this thread? The poster doesn't have any rights to cancel just because she's changed her mind.

Why are they responsible if you failed in your due diligence as a consumer? It's your job to shop around and find the best deal for you - it's their job to sell their products at the highest price they can get away with for the benefit of their shareholders whilst ensuring they abide by consumer protection legislation.

ScS representative, do you feel the selling tactics of your salesman in this case were fit and proper? I am particularily disappointed with the following points:
1Telling us that insurance would be £1.50 p/m when he knew it would be over £5
2 Adding a cleaning kit in without consulting us on this
3 Then deciding to add a 2nd kit on again with no consultation with us

I am extremely disappointed with this as it has soured the whole experience and i am not comfertable at all with the deal. I understand that once a bespoke sofa has gone into construction it is impossible to cancel an order but i feel that within the matter of a few days it should be possible to cancel an order before it has gone into production when a consumer is unhappy with the treatment from your company.
I would greatly appreciate a response to this as i am extremely uncomfertable with this purchase

    thank you
