I found Jordan the most unfriendly, unwelcoming place I've ever been to
I've been twice and just hope I never get to go again.
Everyone seems to be trying to extract money out of you all the time, pretty much non stop
...... and how much do they want for tourists to visit Petra ??0 -

Your experience exactly the opposite of mine: I found them to be genuinely friendly and significantly less hassling than Marrakesh. Petra is a little overpriced, but if you want top class Roman history then Jerash is outstanding.
Marrakesh - the persistence of the traders made me loathe the place.
Each to their own I guess.0 -
Try little Petra, it's free0

I didn't find them unfriendly but I did find them money-grabbing as mcfisco says.Whereas in Egypt a few EGY£ are accepted for baksheesh, in Jordan I found they wanted at least 1 Dinar which is equivalent to over a GBP£1. A rip-off and no mistake.I found Jordan the most unfriendly, unwelcoming place I've ever been to

As for Petra. what got me was that everything was funded by UNESCO or some US university, yet the Jordainins charge ££ for entry! Having said that, the view of the Treasury from the Siq is like all the pictures and blew my mind -awesome!0
