With CPP since 1986

Options
Am with my mother this weekend and she's just dug out paperwork from CPP which shows she's been paying since 1986. The last renewal was in October of 2012.

I understand the cut off date of 2005, and see that people have to do something different if signed up earlier, however just a little clarification would be appreciated.

Will my mum have to do a claim for payments covering 1986 - 2005 and wait for the voting letter. Can she do both?

Many thanks.

it always annoys me most people sign up to these things knowing exactly what they have brought in to so why now they want a refund on something they have made use of

I had it years ago and didn't understand that I should already have been covered by the companies anyway.

At one time, i even had two policies running concurrently.

I didn't buy them or choose to thave them, they were intially done as freebies, and then I just didn't check what I was paying for afterwards, or understand what it was.
So I am also to blame for not understanding my finances....however, I also think that there should be some kind of money/financial information taught in schools so that everyeon can start off with some idea of what finances are, what kind of products there are generally, what steps are involved in having a bank account, how to buy a house etc.

Everyone has to manage money, but not everyone gets shown a good example of how to do that. I was lucky int hat I did have good examples to work from, but it still didn't stop me from doing idiotic things.

And... just noticed that despite a direct debit confirmation of £85.00 for three years she was charged £89.99.

    Needs sorting.

My mum had this for years before 2005 and I think I had it myself at some point. She died in 2007, can I still claim on her behalf?

It is not, Sentinel is a product from another company called Affinion which is completely unrelated to CPP.
