Interesting to hear that Staykill is an old and ineffective brand....I did notice a large stand promoting it near the door at my local PAH recently

personally I always use Indorex, not too much smell and seems to work well.
I rarely use spot on treatments but have heard that Frontline is regarded as ineffective these days.0 -
Sorry to hear about your little "visitors". You probably already know this, but anything bought from the supermarket or chemist is a complete waste of money; it's definitely better to get stuff from the vets (despite the inflated prices). Also, they have a better idea of your cats' medical histories and are thus well-placed to know if one of your cats is likely to be allergic to any of the products available.
With regard to the itching and bites, nothing I've found is better for soothing them than pure aloe-vera. I've got a few plants (started with one, but they reproduce quicker than a rabbit with nymphomania...). My little Parson Jack Russell is having a nasty allergic reaction to the flea bites this summer, so I cut off a leaf, split it open and rub the gel inside on her belly and flank (and on any bites that I receive). It's amazing and really soothes.
I'm looking after a friend's Giant Schnauzer at the moment, so I have to be a bit careful about applying the Frontline, as the two girls often 'groom' each other. They don't sleep in the same room at night though, so I tend to do the dosing (at the appropriate intervals; it's very toxic stuff and overdosing can be extremely serious) just before they go to bed at night.
Best wishes for getting your cats sorted; hope all turns out well. I really don't understand why fleas or ticks exist - they don't seem to serve any useful purpose. Nipping little b*st*rds...x
