In terms of the size of social housing property this family may qualify for, this will vary from area to area and between individual providers. It could be anywhere from a 3 bed flat to a 5 bed house, depending on local demand. Best to speak to your local SH providers or check their allocations policy, usually available on-line.
Housing benefit, however, will be reduced for any excess bedrooms they may have in accordance with the current rules. For a family as described, any more than 3 bedrooms would be excess and the "bedroom tax" applied.0
