Bedroom allowances?

Hi,
I ask this question on behalf of my sister. She has 4 children under 7 - 3 boys and a girl. She is wondering how many bedrooms she would be entitled to if she were to get a council house or what level of housing benefit she would be entitled to.
Her husband was recently made redundant and they've never been in a position like this. I can't really advise either.
All help greatly appreciated

I used this: http://www.voa.gov.uk/corporate/RentOfficers/LHADirect.html
And it said 3 bedrooms, the children will be expected to share.
(Edit as I messed up the calculator!)0 -
Supposedly same sex children under ten have to share a bedroom. My daughter had a two bedroom flat and she was told it would accommodate 2 adults and 4 children :eek:0

Children under ten regardless of sex have to share, not just same sex.
(Have to in terms of the money, not literally
) 0 -
I can't see them getting a three bedroomed property as the four children all being under ten would share the larger bedroom using bunk beds and the adults would go in the smaller room.0

The allowance is for 2 kids of the same sex to share or 2 mixed sex siblings to share until one of them reaches 10.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

What are their living arrangements at the moment?0

What a coincidence!;)0 -
Couple = 1 bedroom
2 x Children under 10 = 1 bedroom
2 x Children under 10 = 1 bedroom
So 3 bedroom property.
Private rented = 3 bedroom LHA rate.
Council House = Eligible rent figure minus 14% for one surplus bedroom and 25% for 2 surplus bedrooms. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
My sister and brother in law have just sold their house. At quite a loss. We are indeed in similar circumstances, not by any means the sme though. As I said, I couldn't advise her on housing benefit, we currently rent privately from my husband's parents and have therefore been unable to claim housing benefit. If I was asking for myself, I would have said it was for myself.
Real kind and supportive. Cheers.0
