How can I meter my own broadband?

Options
Before I switch to a metered service I would like to know how much bandwidth I use in an average month. Is there any way for me to measure this easily? For bonus points is there any way to do this on a Mac?

One of the ADSL forums, I forget which, recommended:

    DU Meter from Hagel Technologies

It's trialware - ie can download, install and try for 30 days to see if it does what you want. http://www.dumeter.com

Has running/daily/weekly/monthly totals for Up/Down/Total data (and time online) and exports in CSV format for Excel etc analysis.

Like you I had no real idea of how much data I was using and it's revealed 1.2GB and 1.13GB over my first 2 weeks of usage - ie a 2GB/month cap would be useless for me.

I have been searching the net for information about checking my downloads and should have remembered to try MSE first!

I'm uncapped at the moment but it is expensive and I'm looking to see what I actually use before I change to a cheaper capped broadband.
