just a light one to see if anyone does what i do
i was just wondering if anyone else tell fibs to save money. i do;)
my son thinks that when the ice cream van plays his tune its because he has no ice cream left !:p :rotfl:
also my boyf won't eat anything with a yellow sticker/reduced so i buy stuff and take the yellow sticker off ( cant blame him hes a butcher by trade) i have a lovey big pork joint in the freezer for next sunday it was reduced to a £1 .
boyf is a brand snob and will only eat heinz beans and such like .... i buy cheap beans and he has never noticed the difference.
i fill the heinz bottle with cheap sauce :rotfl: :rotfl: no complains i promise no one has ever complained in the house
does anyone else do it or is it only me ? ???? never started a thread so thought this would be nice and light for a sunday night....

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

Not done anything like that - ds eats what he gets & likes it! :rotfl:
Just have to say, I LOVE your sig!

I've told my DD the one about the ice-cream van too!
However my parents thought it cruel so she now knows the truth, although it is my version of the truth (ice-cream vans only go down Nannies's street- they're not allowed to stop on ours as it is too busy!).0 -
My OH only likes semi-skimmed milk but frequently has skimmed when I use it to top up a near empty carton of his milk! Does that count as lying?
I will also admit to lowering my children's ages on times to get cheaper admission.
That's enough confessing for now though I think. lol
Ps. We shut doors and talk very loudly, or turn on music or TV when ice cream van is in the street. He stops right outside our house so we'd never get dd to believe they had ran out when she can see all the children strollling up and buying icecreams!0 -
My mum used to use the ice cream story, but when it's playing "greensleeves" that means it's making more icecream and it's not ready yet. It used to play a different tune at Granny and Godmothers' houses (and I was allowed ice cream there!) :rotfl:We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

we don't have an ice cream van- the folks round here don't use it, so no money to be made- perhaps we're all on MSE and don't realise it:o
The sauce goes into the squeezy bottle so the glass one can go for recycling, it's not my fault they don't look at the label;)
Malties and the equivalent shop brand are the only alternative to the evil Nestle's Shredded Wheat so that is why we buy the shop's own make. Not because they are cheaper.
We buy fruit and veg from Lidl if we are close enough because they have a better range of closer to home veg than the big supermarkets. And they are cheaper.:T
So, no , it's not always lying, just that trying to be a bit more ethical can set a good exaample for my DD and it saves me money too.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Hi,I did the ice cream van story when my daughter was little, although she doesn't believe me now shes a big 7.
I often buy reduced items although most of the time I remove the yellow labels so oh doesn't know lol.
In our house I think the shop own brands are just as good if not better than the big brand names, especially cola,we go through quite alot and instead of buying "you know who" I buy local netto store's own brand where it is a full 75p cheaper and just as good.
Well it's all money saving :TMfit member no 13 original balance £44000

I always got Tesco's own make of tomato sauce but then DD started saying she wanted Heinz.
I bought a bottle of it and she said it definately tasted better, but when it ran out I filled it up with Tesco's and she didn't notice. I filled it up a couple of times before I told her what I'd done so now we're back on Tesco's proper.0
