Boiler/Central heating cover - Homeserve

They seem to be far and away the best value provider of this type of cover. Is it just a better deal? Or is there a reason? Is the level of service less than their competitors?

you really need to be careful and check their terms and conditions a few are:

What isn’t Covered? (see also the General Exclusions)
    c) repair or replacement of water tanks, radiators and hot water cylinders

even though its CENTRAL HEATING COVER.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

My dad took out the plumbing and drainage cover with homeserve a few years ago, he had a leak on the toilet pan connector - homeserve sent out a contractor to have a look - and all he did was put some black sticky tape around the pan connector on the toilet and said that would sort out the leak....... needless to say it didn't, they came back out again and put some more around it - still didn't stop the leak - the third guy who came out said it needed to soil pipe replacing, but due to it not being the "standard 4" soil pipe" they wouldn't replace it under the cover....... total !!!!! cover by homeserve - he cancelled the cover straight away and I replaced the soil pipe for him.....

We also had the homeserve cover for our plumbing and heating and it took their 3rd party contractors 2 visits to sort out a weeping radiator valve (they even ruined the wallpaper in the room near the rad valve and then denied they ever caused the damage....

would stay clear of homeserve cover for anything whatsoever......

    Hi Dave,

I did contact homeserve at the time of the issues and they didn't bother one bit, which is why we cancelled the plumbing and drains cover at the time.

Thanks for the offer of help, but all the issues were sorted out ourselves.

    Regards

    Mike

Well done mwbrown - what do you Homesrve hope to achieve NOW, that the customer failed to achieve during the claim process!

  • Just wondered whether there was any recent feedback on Homeserve?

I require this kind of cover (anyone who has an ideal icos boiler and a modern -aka cheaply built - house does IMO). I've used British Gas Homecare in the past and have always been impressed with the service if not the premiums.

However, looking around to save money I notice their cover 8 including an annual boiler service for £114 a year (£50 excess). I took this cover out but decided to cancel after reading feedback. When I called they offered me £40 via cheque if I decided to stay making the policy £74 - which is exceptional value when you consider it includes a service.

Have they upped their game or are they 'desperate' for business due to seemingly bad service?
