Beware false mobile recycling company

I was recently given a new phone with a better contract & wanted to sell my previous handset which was only 16months old & practically new as I only used it for personal use & as I am disabled, it was only used to keep me in touch with the people I needed when I went somewhere. I got a quote from this company for £124.00 for a working handset & was sent their prepaid envelope which I took to the Post Office & paid the extra £6.95 for Recorded Delivery & insurance. They received it the next day but I had to wait three days before they sent me an email offering me £55.80 because I had left it password locked. As they do not show any phone numbers to call them I had to send a message via their online form giving them the password so they could unlock it which I found a bit strange. Since then all I have received from them is another offer of £55.80 which I rejected & now they are asking for me to send them £8.95 for them to return it. Otherwise they will just keep it. I was relying on the original money & can't understand how these companies can get away with this. Have I got any recourse against them or have they got away with it.?

Ask them for the reason for the difference in price.

That doesn't sound as if the company is false, if it was you would never have heard from them if they were.
