After 6 years it's wiped from your file. I wouldn't even worry about it, debt collectors rely on fear to operate.

You say to them point blank - I am NOT paying, take me to court and we'll resolve this. They never will take you to court because they know it is too much hassle, they just want the scared to pay up without a court appearance.

I had a genuine debt that I couldn't pay due to having zero income, and I said it straight to them - take me to court. All I got was 'we can't do that we have to follow process' and the like, even though they were sending me the same threatening letters over and over again for 2 years. Still not heard anything from them as they've given up.
  • Hi all,

Thanks for all of the advice, I will definitely be taking/using it.

Lee has promised to call me today between 3-5pm so I will let you know how we get on. In the meantime I will look into how I take this to small claims.

    Thanks again,
    Lou

  • Hi Lee,

Following our call on Tuesday I am still awaiting copies of these bills that Vodafone have magically found after 5years of not being able to provide them.

I am increasingly worried as to how these have all of a sudden appeared on your systems, especially as I was originally told the charges were for an early termination fee... Which leads me to believe that these bills you say you now have could even be old bills or manufactured bills to cover up the story Vodafone is now giving me and I am feeling very frustrated by all of this. If you genuinely had these 'bills' all this time why have I always been told it was an early term fee and then told it was call charges but you couldn't provide bills.

Also, you promised that you would put a hold on all of the debt agencies hounding me but I have yet again today had a call and message from Fredrickson international.

I have emailed you twice since our call on Tuesday but not had any further response from you hence why I am again commenting on here.

    Kind regards
    Louise
  • Awesome. Looks like another company joining the queue of those dredging through old accounts to see if they can collar people for anything before they become statute barred.

Banks are doing this now with a worrying increase in regularity.
  • Just to keep the post up to date, I have today received an email from Vodafone stating that "due to the age of the bills they are awaiting an update on how they can get them to me and will come back to me soon."

Just strange as last week they told me they had posted them to me once already, and over the years they have told me the charges were for an early term fee.... How long will it take them to fabricate these bills that have appeared from nowhere after 5 years.... Give me a break! :-(
  • A question for VF rep......when you take out a new contract you pay 1 month upfront and when you end the contract, mobile phone companies (not just VF) are suppose to refund the amount leftover.

Do you know how hard it is to get a cash, not credit, refund ?

121 or T-Mobile still owes me £25 from years and years ago which they were suppose to refund me and still haven't.

So my question is how much money has VF got from customers and haven't refunded ?

The charge from VF is probably a small amount which VF forgot and charges were added to charges to make up the £371. Now VF is trying to fabricate a bill that matches the amount without looking stupid.

We all know the end result will be the debt to be made void. Just how much compensation VF are willing to dish out for the distress and credit damage caused.

    Hi Louise,

Thanks for your time on the phone last week.

For clarification, I had intended to get them out to you last week. However, I wasn't able to for the reason stated yesterday.

I have chased this up again this morning and will come back to you as soon as I have an update.

    spudsofa,

Once an account with us has been cancelled and a final bill issued we'd return any amount left in credit to the customer via BACS.

In regard to the OP's case I'm afraid I'm unable to discuss this publicly. However, the OP is welcome to keep the thread up to date with developments.

    Kind regards,

    Lee

Looks like Lee is just as hopeless as the rest of the Vodafone crew.
It would be easy to write off the debt and get a bit of good publicity, but no, Vodafone have to hound the OP relentlessly via this forum too.
Thanks for the warning, I won't use Vodafone either now.

    Hi Lee,

I have just sent you another email and would appreciate and suggest that you review and action this email immedaitely.

After taking further legal advice today Vodafone have now left me in a position that I have no other option but to take this to the small claims court however I am providing you with one last opportunity to resolve this before I file the papers that I have been provided today.

I hope to hear from you/your manager within the next 24 hours.

    Many thanks in advance
    Louise
