PoisonIvy80 wrote: »Funny you should ask that, I did have a call from HMRC about my child tax credits about a month ago saying a query had come up and I had to send off my bank statement and utility bills. After speaking to the guy for a few minutes, he linked my ex husband to my house as he is still named as a joined tennant. They were actually very helpful and managed to run credit checks and find out my ex husband's new address and clear any dispute regarding to him living here. I did not actually know my ex husband had not removed himself from my tennancy. I am in the long process of removing his name myself through my housing officer so after that, there is no link to my address with anyone else.
I was thinking that I had been maliciously reported after a full on argument with my ex about child maintinence. But there is no evidence other than my baby's father coming one night a week I can guarantee that.
It could easily be your ex and that link. It's not under caution so all they want to do is clear things up, it sounds to me like some paper trail somewhere shows a partner link (suspect ex from what you say),0 -
My understanding is that even if you are not sleeping together, and if he doesn't stay over, they will still be interested in the time you spend together, so if you share joint meals, or spend time in the same house chatting and sharing a glass of wine whilst watching the TV, they can infer that you are a couple.
If your interactions are related to him spending supervised time with his child, and helping out with his child, and the only conversations you have are related to said child, and he stays over, only because it is not possible to help with the child, and get home before the last bus. then a decent expert would be able to put them back in thier cage.
But don't forget that lots of people do attempt to abuse the system, and commit fraud, so they are given the powers they have to reduce the taxpayers losses.0 -
OP.... you say your ex husband is still a hoint tenant at the property you live in?
in itse;f, this would flag you up to the auyjotiyies.
why havent you removed him?0 -

I hope this is the case. It can be cleared up very easily.0 -

They haven't said its an interview under caution have they?
I've assumed not from your posts, in which case it's often a report or evidence they just want discuss. Ie if HMRC notified them etc. if its IUC then you need legal advice.0 -

I didn't even realise he was still on the tenancy until I had the phone call from HMRC. He said he removed himself when we broke up so I never thought otherwise. Because he is currently making things a bit difficult at the moment, I am in the slow process of removing his name myself without his consent with my housing officer. I have a meeing with him in a couple of weeks to sign some paper work.0 -

The letter does not mention its under caution. It just says:
'We need to see you in order to discuss the benefit we are currently paying you. We need to ensure your payments are correct and it is essential that you attend this interview to discuss the matter. To avoid unecessary delay, please bring this letter with you and show it to reception immediately on your arrival. Please ask for Mr ******. If you arrive late yo umay not be seen. etc.
Then it lists ID to bring as evidence.0 -

Well if that's the case, I must be in a relationship with my sister, mother, best friend and a couple of male friends. We spend quite a lot of time eating meals with friends and family. The system is silly!0 -

The system is supporting yourself and six children from several fathers, so it's not too bad? I agree though that you should be treated with respect by the benefit officers. They have no right to belittle or intimidate you.0 -
Once this is sorted out, you might want to sort out your relationships. It really isn't good for children to have so many men in and out of their lives. They really need stability.0
