Broadband & TV Costs

We are with Virgin Media and pay £59 a month.

This is for our TV package and Broadband.

I'm not sure which package we have, but will find out.

I'd like to try to reduce the amount we spend as I think that is a lot?

We do not have a house phone so no free minutes etc, not sure if we are paying for a line for the Broadband though.

Does anyone have any advice on what is a reasonable amount to pay for TV / Broadband, and what packages (or even suppliers) I may want to look at?

Many Thanks :-)

you can get virgin for as little as £32 (without discounts)
if you go for the very basic tv and broadband.

you dont need a landline for cable broadband, however, if you have TV as well, you might as well have it, as it works out the same price, or somethings even cheaper.

basically the landline will cost your £15/month extra for line rental, but you will get £15 discount on the TV/Broadband package.

ou can check online to find out what package you currently have

What do you use the broadband for ? there might be room to downgrade the speed (even the slowest is quicker than your average ADSL line)
What channels do you usually watch on TV?

the 30mb broadband, M+ TV and landline will cost you about £40/month
and includes channels like Sky 1, but lacks most of the good HD channels
  • To be honest I think that Virgin offer a reasonable deal, I have sky now since virgin cant do broadband to my address. It's not a patch on virgin broadband and it goes off all the time. Sky tv does offer a better selection of channels but I would go back to Virgin in a heartbeat if they could serve my new flat. My compromise would probably be to switch to freeview for TV and keep the virgin broadband.
