Geek Squad mobile phone insurance

I have a friend who works at the Carphone Warehouse. He said Geek Squad insurance covers you for 'absolutely everything' for a contract phone. I asked whether it would cover me if I lost my phone in public, had it taken from my pocket or accidentally left it somewhere - he said yes.

I've looked at some reviews for Geek Squad and they aren't positive. In fact, a lot of them are negative. I'm hoping some of you could share your opinions/experiences and perhaps recommend a better provider.

How do you think they make money ?
By paying out everyone who fancies a new phone ?
Or by hiding behind contractual blurb ?

IMO it's one of the better policies. Used it when my phone was stolen and the claim process was fair and efficient. Having looked at the recent FCA review of phone insurance it's certainly not one of the dodgy insurance products on the market.

Having said that, it's expensive.
