  • Tesco value double strength cordial has saved me a fortune this summer - with two thirsty lads and the heawave, I've gone through loads. It varies in price from 28p to 42p.

Value tomato ketchup is currently 28p in my local Tesco, but sometimes goes down to 17p.

Nappy bags are about 31p for 100. As well as using them for nappies, I use them when cleaning the cat's litter tray. I would think they would be ideal for cleaning up when walking a dog too, although our local council does provide free doggy doo bags.

Value beans and spaghetti are well used in our house.

My younger son press Tesco value cornflakes to any other brand.

Value shall is 40p for a big bottle and is fine. I wish I could find value conditioner as well, especially as my hair has gone quite dry since I reached a certain age!

Value lemonade isn't Schweppes, but it is drinkable.

Value cola is 17p and my son's preferred fizzy drink.

I love value stuff on the whole, but still need decent decaf coffee to drink, as value decaf doesn't seem to exist, and even ordinary range decaf isn't very nice.

ETA, I'll try some of the other recommendations on here as well. I already use some that have been mentioned, but am now going to look out for more things in the value ranges.

    Well done you :)

I'm a fan of the value ranges - 22p for 6 x pitta breads!! BARGAIN!!

29p for jam - and it has no 'bits' which suits me :)

love finding a NEW values item that I like - it can be a bit hit & miss - but on the whole it defo helps keep the costs down

The value jam is too thin, its watery and tasteless.

The value wipes are good, 100 for about 30p

They are small and dry no good for when baby poops.

The value fromage frais are bargain at 42p for 6 all 3 of mine love them and they don't go watery like the wildlife ones.

The older two love the value ravioli, this was once substituted with heinz and they wouldn't eat the heinz one. They also love the value tinned meatballs and spaghetti bolognese but I feel guilty buying these as I have convinced myself they are full of nasties!?

If you find the shampoo isn't quite right for your hair it might be worth hanging on to as a "cleansing" shampoo. I like to use a particular non-value shampoo most of the time, but like with a lot of shampoos I eventually feel as though my hair isn't clean enough (probably due to silicon build up). That's when I use value shampoo instead of a ridiculously priced "cleansing" or "clarifying" one.

I like the Value range a lot!

    I currently regularly use:
Chocolate mousses. Fantastic! So tasty. Like these a lot more than the Cadbury ones!
The squash. Both the blackcurrant and the lemon flavours are very nice. The orange is also okay, but I'm not such a fan of orange squash anyway.
Pasta sauce. As good as any other on the market IMO. I do add extra pepper and a bit of garlic, but I'd do that with any pasta sauce.
Pasta. Absolutely fine, as good as the own brand.
Mushy peas. Lovely. Although have gone up in price in my store recently! Now 20p up from 15p!
Because it's fun to have money!

  • There are a few threads on value stuff which are good... Will repost a massive (and now a bit outdated, as added more stuff) tesco everyday value list I posted elsehwere a few months back...

Everyday Value Mince - 750g - £2.35 (can be more expesnive at times, but superb, all beef - no pork/beef mince or beef/horse mix ha!)

    Everyday Value Pasta - 30p
Everyday Value - tinned veg's (carrots, peas etc)
Everyday Value Tuna Chunks - 85p (Unbelievable value/taste)
    Everyday Value Diced Chicken - 400g - £2.94
Everyday Value Frying Steaks (X4 per pack) - £3.35
    Everyday Value Bacon (£1.50ish)
Everyday Value Pepper (18p small size)
Everyday Value Soft Cheese (50p normal 60p garlic amazing for price)
Everyday Value washing powder (85p 13 washes - Does job for general wash, doubt it would work for hefty stains)

    Everyday Value Rolls / Bread
Everyday Value Pizza's (£1.39ish - decent and variety in 'toppings')
Everyday Value Cheddar Cheese grated (if you love cheese 500g - £2.15)
Everyday Value Mozzarella (44p - not best in world but does job for nachos etc)
Everyday Value Orange / Apple Juice from concentrate (62p - 100% juice from concentrate Asda Smartprice is 50% J.F.C and 50% water and crap lol)

Everyday Value Vodka - (£9.49ish - handy if not fussy or a student... err me then :P )
Everyday Value Salmon (4 pieces not bad at all)
Everyday Value Rainbow trout (2 pieces - £1.99 - decent)
Everyday Value Macaroni cheese (85p tastes good with a bit salt/pepper)
Everyday Value frozen chips (does the job, taste well, just need cooked for longer)
Everyday Value Bagged Salad (More lettice(y) really. but instead of 200-250g bag it's like 400g for £1 - for garnish/health on the side of the plate ha!)
Everyday value flapjack tray at 84p (Lovely sweet treat for less)
Value Strawberries - £1.75 - Good for the price, depends week on week, some times needs a spot of sugar...

Value Grapes - Recently at £1.45. Very good / infact incredible at £1.45 at the mo. Vary weekly on location, Most weeks taste nice!
    Everyday Value Garlic x3 - 69p

Tesco Everyday Value Mouthwash - 40p 600ml. This isn't strongest, but for 40p does a decent job twice or thrice a day!
Tesco Everyday Value Handwash - 38p 500ml. I was expecting the worst, but it's clear packaging with clear liquid which smells, florally/lavendary, and for 38p it does a fab job, compared to £1 plus for a tiny bottle of Carex!

Everyday Value Stirfry (fresh) - £1 (it's a bigger bag then other stirfry packs, less peppers and onions in it but still perfectly good)
Everyday Value Grapes - £1.75 (very good tasting, maybe not quite as sweet but still very good, grapes not a cheap fruit IMO)
Everyday Value Strawberries £1.75 (chance of not being quite so sweet - dash of sugar still tasty!)

Everyday Value Rump Steak - Approx £4-5 (Depends on weight, brilliant value and taste though)
Everyday Value Strawberry trifle. Was pleasantly surprised it tasted really, really nice for 89p
Tesco Everyday Value - Bread - 50p - Bloody brilliant for the price IMO, It's pretty much thick slice (most value bread is only medium elsewhere). Amazing value.

    AVOID

Everyday Value washing up liquid - 39p (really does cack all. Daisy stuff at 49p isn't much better but better than this!)

    OK products
Everyday Value air freshener (smells of nowt really)
Everyday Value Tortilla's - 46p (Asda's Smart Price are far superior taste)
Everyday Value Pitta bread - 22p (Ok taste but really thin, but Lidls ones are far supieror at 39p)

E/V Pasta sauce for me is ok but a bit 'cheap' tasting... I'd rather buy a tin of tomatoes and add a bit of my own garlic. Or best value pasta sauce is Lidls. About 70% veg and 75p.
    E/V Salad Cream - 55p (Ok tasting)
    PK! :money:

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
I started buying tesco value range when i became unemployed.

Value Peanut Butter- They don't do the smooth kind, only crunchy, but it's really lovely! I dont buy any other other.

French Brie-Delicious and tastes the same as any other (only £1.05 too).

Frozen Broccoli and Cauliflower- i prefer the value ranges as the bits are smaller.

Frozen Fruit Salad- only about 98p and a great snack for my kids. Melon, grapes and oranges.

Tinned fruit-does the job nicely :)

    You wasted money.

Rim blocks ? In all my adult life I've yet to buy a single one.

    How much money saving have I done ? £700 ? £300 maybe ?

For people who may find themselves skint the reality of having to shop bargain basement can lower confidence so when someone has taken the plunge try and be big enough to say well done and then add something like "have you considered using bleach which may work out cheaper than rim blocks" instead of starting a post with "you wasted money."
Kindness costs nothing, that's the best money saving tip I can give people like you.
