I have a panasonic eco max upright. It was fantastic when i lived in a flat with carpets but its a nightmare with my solid wood floors now :(

Which vacuum cleaner is good for hard wood floors? I'm looking for something lightweight, has good suction and lasts a good few years!

Is Henry good? Is it worth that pricetag? £100 !!

More info:
1. No pets
2. Two adults who shed a lots of hair (as a matter of fact - so no comments or discussions on this please ;) )
3. Bagless preferred

There have been many similar threads on here recently.

Most will agree that Henry is a worthwhile investment.

Also, consider the Vax Air range (bagless, light, powerful).

Since your price range is <£100, that would rule out a Sebo or Dyson anyway.

P.S. They are called vacuum cleaners not Hoovers. Hoover is a manufacturer's name!

TBH I wouldn't vacuum at all - I would use one of these ( a 'swiffer' with a rotating head) and possibly lightly spray the floor first with either water, water + a few drops of essential oil in a HM spray or a proprietary floor spray for wooden floors. You can wash and replace the heads.

I get what you are saying but when you live with wooden floors you really do have to vacuum them before you swish or steam or whatever, failure to do that leads all the grit scratching up the floors, (got the tee-shirt)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Miele Cat and Dog. Hardwood oak floor in hallway, pine in dining and lounge and vinyl in kitchen.

Best hoover I've ever used and 10 year warranty for £30!

I doubt they can be found for less than £100

OP - for reference while Henry et al are praised widely by most, strangely in Which reviews they never feature as a best buy. Though they cant be beaten for their sturdy ness, they are not best at picking up all dust and hair from floors!

    Maybe the warranty was £30?

  • I've got wooden floors and have a Henry, the brushes on the main attachment are fine for them. Love him and wouldn't change him for anything! Very powerful he is!

    Hi
Are the floors in question oiled finishes (like a hardwax oil) as they are more prone to marking with the wheels from the vacuum. If you do vacuum use one without wheels on the head, or just use a spray mop with a microfiber pad.
Finally do not add essential oils unless you want to turn the floor into an ice rink.
