Hi,
I'm looking for some advice. I recently bought a Beko fridge freezer from Currys online. We left it for 12 hours to settle before we turned it on as was recommended. As soon as we turned it on we realised it was very noisy, but thought it would settle and quieten down after a day or two (it is dead level).
However it hasnt got any quieter so I phoned Currys. When you speak to the automated response and say that you have a Beko appliance it immediately puts you through to Beko. There response was that it will be noisy for 6 weeks or so then quieten down. They would send an engineer out to look at it but if he cant find a fault then they will charge us an £80 call out fee!
Currys have said this is the contract they have with Beko and there is nothing else they can do.
My concern is that the engineer is going to come out and say that its fine and to leave it 6 weeks and charge us £80. However I cant see it getting quieter after 6 weeks. We are now 2 weeks in and it is exactly the same. Friends have asked us what the noise is when they visit and we have to close the door to watch tv!
I have told Currys that I want an exchange or a refund as my contract was with them, but they have refused this and said there is nothing they can do.
Has anyone experienced this before and does anyone know what my rights are?
Thanks

Chances are it's not a fault, just noisy, which of course is unacceptable.
I'm not sure what to suggest.
Currys customer service is shocking. I'm also having problems and will never buy from them again. Can't stand companies who ignore their customers after point of sale!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If the manufacturer says it's normal for the first six weeks then maybe you should wait until the six weeks is up before worrying. If I were you I would get it all confirmed in an email so you have proof of what you have been told if it's the same after six weeks.
Technically if they sent an engineer and there is no fault then are can charge you for wasted time as long as they have informed you up front what the charge would be.0 -
Hi thanks for your replies. Looks like lots of people are having trouble with Currys. I have just sent them an email to complain. Cant see it getting me anywhere but worth a try.0

Is it on a flat surface? Often if the fridge isn't level then it makes a noise. You can adjust the feet of the fridge to level it out. Use a spirit level to check0

Hi Yes it is level.
I've checked this regulalrly with different spirit levels. Its over four weeks now and its still noisy. I emailed currys with a letter of complaint and the original order both attached. They responded and said that they needed the attachments to be PDF so they can view them. So i converted them and sent them back 10 days ago and have not heard anything since!
Anyone got any further advice. This fridge is driving us mad now and we dont feel we are getting anywhere with Currys!0 -
Did you follow my last suggestion and get it in an email or writing to confirm it takes up to six weeks to settle?
You are still not at the six weeks that you have been told is normal, if you get there and it is still noisy then you can do more about it.
Out of interest, what model is it?0 -
If you are still within 7 days of delivery, ask Currys to cancel underDSR for a full refund and choose another machine. Chances are that is just how loud that model is.0

It is now four weeks since delivery, the OP didn't post here until after two weeks so missed the DSR cut off.0
