Is there anyone out there who has filled in an IB50 for depression/anxiety and NOT been called for a medical.
Everybody who fills in one of these forms for depression always seems to be called for medical.
Am i right ???

Well I appreciate I filled in all the form and should have scored on both sections but my IB50 was returned on 30th Jan and I haven't heard back as yet. I haven't been called for a medical. Fingers still crossed though. Be nice if they actually told you they'd looked at the form and decided not to bother.
I'd phone them up and ask but think it's probably better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Unless you are in an exempt group you will almost certainly be called for a medical especially as there is a drive to reduce those on IB and those conditions are being targeted.0

You should be alright because I thought you were in an exempt group, but it seems anything goes these days!0

Hi
It all depends if it is your first medical it should be done within 4-5 weeks, if it is a second or consecutive medical depending on where you live it can me kept in the office for up to 6 weeks then medical service have 10 weeks to do a medical. Then ewhen medical services get your file they could still pass you without being seen.
Ring your local office and ask them when your file was sent to medical services.0 -
Start to finish in the northwest,it is taking about 5 months from receiving the ib50,to getting a decision, if sent for a medical or not.
In my experience almost everyone with mental health problems and no physical problems, is sent for a medical, regardless of the amount of detail they enter on the form.
I have seen forms which would score way above the threshold and the people have still been sent for a medical time after time. Also at the moment the DWP are sending out more ib50,s than they have over the last twelve years or so.The have even been sent to people who are exempt and in some areas, told these people to fill them in or their money may be stopped. Some of the staff brought in ,sadly dont seem to know the rules. This of course does not mean loads more people are failing the medicals,by this i mean the long term claimants, not the first timers.
There are two sides to every story.

No, you can be passed on the information you put on the IB50 and any doctors letters that they have on file.
You could also be exeempted at the medical.0 -

Hi
I filled an IB50 form in January this year . I suffer from depression and anxiety. I received a letter to say i did not have to go for medical and that my case is up for review next January 2008. I found the guidance notes on the benefits and works site very helpful.
try not to worry.0 -
