Hello All
I excitedly bought a nook and now haven't a clue how to use the thing. I thought it'd be like my smartphone- get apps from playstore and enjoy immensely.
but I cant seem to do it. play says already installed- as the apps are on my phone- and I just cant get them onto the nook as well. I realise I am probably missing something simple but please help if you know what im doing wrong

you can create an account with Barnes & Noble
you can buy books from many sources .....
or if you want an easy way to get some free books to red then
try this .......
go to
http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/Top_100ttp://
or
http://www.techsupportalert.com/cont...oks-online.htm
pick a book , then click on to open its own window.
scroll down to ebook downloads, pick .epub
and save it to your pc/laptop the desktop will do.
Connect Nook to the pc/laptop, if a window does not pop up then click my computer from start menu.
The Nook should now be shown, navigate to my files / books (it is slightly different depending on which Nook you have)
drag and drop / cut and paste your new downloaded book to this draw .....
do safely remove Nook then disconnect.....
open your Nook then go to library and the book will be there

Question would be does this Barnes and Noble product work with Google Play or do you have to use their apps .

Initially you had to use the Nook applications but they released an update that allowed the HD and HD+ to access the Play store and download applications as normal. If I'm understanding the OP correctly they have access to the Google store but when they go to an application it's showing as installed already when it isn't installed on the tablet.

No, you shouldn't need another account and I wouldn't recommend one - Google allow you to have multiple devices assigned to your account with the advantage that any applications you pay for you can access on any of your Android devices. I have a Nook HD+ tablet and I've had no issues signing into the Play store with the same account I use for other Android devices and installing applications as normal.
It's been a few months since I set up the Nook so I can't remember if I had to do anything particular to get it set up with my Google account, it seemed straightforward at the time. If you log into the Play store through a PC's browser and open the application there, do you see both the phone and Nook as options to install to?

Yep all my devices are on the same Play account that's why i queried .
I would be tempted to factory reset and or check for a firmware update .0 -
Thanks for the responses.
When I'm in play it only shows the phone as an option, so I can't use them on the nook. I've looked on b&n sites and no joy. Is very frustrating. I'll try again at the weekend when I've got more time to work it out. It's new out of the box so don't know why it's so complicated0 -
What does it show on the Nook when you open the Play store? Has your Nook prompted you for any OS updates since you started it up?
