Flight Cancelled - Advice would be appreciated!!

I was hoping for peoples opinion on whether you feel I should claim for the following issues I had back in 2009.

Back in August 2009 a friend and I were due to be flying back from Belfast to Manchester with BMI however on arrival at Belfast Intl Airport we received the news that our flight had been “cancelled”. As a result of this we were forced to transfer to a flight departing to East Midlands which was leaving a few minutes before our scheduled flight. Once we landed at East Midlands we had to get a train back to Manchester which I managed to get reimbursed back in 2009 (we also had several issues with their staff or lack of staff but that is another story). As we got back to Manchester over 2 hours later than we should have done I now feel I may also be entitled to compensation, does anyone agree that I would have a claim? As BMI are no longer in existence I think I will have to now take this up with British Airways as they have been acquired by International Airlines Group, again does anyone have any knowledge on this?

Do you think I have a chance of claiming?
