Stag Bar - An ever-lasting treat?

Just a little warning - I have no personal experience of stag bars - howver having read about the dangers of feeding them (causing tooth damage) I have decided not to risk it
I got one for Maisie after seeing so many people say how good they are ..... but, since then, quite a few of them have come back saying that their dog's had a broken tooth from them ..... she wasn't that bothered about it so it's now been removed
They do softer ones (but obviously these are unlikely to be everlasting) - I guess these might be OKGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I wonder how many of these dogs who suffered dental problems actually had an existing problem already. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

There seems to be a specific issue with the damage caused stag bars though, it seems it's not just a wee chip or damage to an already compromised tooth.
Taken from another site:
In the last few weeks we have experienced an unprecedented surge of fractured teeth from STAGbars and other antler type chews sold for dogs as "natural tooth cleaning". The teeth damaged all have buccal slab fractures of the upper carnassials (see below). Many have fractured so severely that surgical extraction is the only treatment possible.Herman - MP for all!

Our dog loves the stagbars but after reading stories about tooth damage I'm a bit hesitant to give them to him. Has anyone tried the soft antler chews? I haven't seen any in my local pet stores, only online. Has anyone had first hand experience of these?marlasinger0

I have two staffs. They demolished these in under an hour (two sittings. Would have been less but I took them off them). So everlasting they absolutely aren't.
I stick to bones. 50p a bag from the butchers.Sigless0
