For a good basic book 'The Vegetable Expert' by Dr D G Hessayon (available almost everywhere! LOL!)......................and if you really want to treat yourself get a subscription to the 'Kitchen Garden' magazine - pick up a copy in WHSmith (everywhere else seems to sell out!) to check it out first. Or google it - there's a good website with a forum etc.

Hi, My Bible is The new Vegetable and Herb Expert by Dr. D.G. Hessayon.
The book is really good with pictures and charts of how deep to sow the seeds. When to sow-plant and it also covers pest problems. The ISBN number is 0-903505-46-0. Its so basic, just what i need. The other book that i think is good is by Carol Klein Grow your own. I can't remember the ISBN number. She is also down to earth, sorry no pun intended. Hope this is of some use to you.

Hi I'd also recommend the Carole Klein 'Grow Your Own Veg' book. It was avaialbe a while ago for about £5 from Book People and you can go through a cashback site [quidco I think]. Also look for a free p+p code on the relevant board and its an even bigger barg. :D

I found it to be a clear and simple book with lots of piccies and good advice

I have so many I could list four or five or more! However, this is the one I find myself turning to most often.

I'd also second the Carol Klein one.
A friend bought it for me recently and I really like it
