PC rebooting on shutdown

Hi,
I'm having this annoying problem with my pc over the past week or so everytime I shut it down it automatically restarts itself.
The motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-Z87-D3HP and I have tried updating the bios, clearing the cmos, removing hardware, testing memory, disabling wake on features and various reg edits I have found online.
I was wondering if anyone else with a Gigabyte motherboard was experiencing the same problems and if they found a solution to it?
Thanks

Have you tried clean booting it to ensure it's not third party software/drivers causing it?0

Yeah I used this guide http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 and tried it on windows 7 and 8 and problem is still there.
Looked on the internet and the boot problem seems to be a common thing with Gigabyte boards0 -
What is actually happening is that the PC is crashing as you shut it down.

That was one of the first things I tried and unfortunately it made no difference
Thanks though0 -
does a shutdown from safemode work
any power saving settings changed
does hibernate work!!

Just had 5 attempts at shutting down in safemode and it rebooted twice.
I changed my power options using Samsung's ssd magician and this also disabled hibernation.
I've noticed that when I remove the usb devices from the front port on my case it often shutdown without fail and on my latest reboot windows installed a usb hub device.
Also if I remove any cd/dvd from my dvd drives it often reboots without fail.
Not sure if that's relevant though
Edit:- the usb hub device could be the usb hub thats installed inside of my monitor.0 -
Did you install any new software just before this issue started ?
Many programs need a system restart to instal properly.Maybe you installed something that keeps forcing a restart0 -
Aside from updating the bios a few days ago I haven't installed anything for around a month. Loads of people complaining about this problem with other gigabyte boards0

Isn't Win 8 shutdown a type of hybrid hibernation?
I don't know if this is any help, but when I started out with Win7, I couldn't get Hibernate to work, the pc would always reboot.
I eventually found that the problem was the power setting for the usb mouse, 'Allow this device to wake computer', found under Device Manager.
3 years on this will occasionally re-occur, sometimes after a big Windows update.
I don't know about Win8, but I had a shed load of updates last week.
Perhaps something to check?Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I couldn't find the option to disable that but I removed a drive from a sata port on my motherboard and I haven't had any problem since so i'm wondering if I have a faulty sata port.0
