First Direct - too much junk mail

I thought I would try First Direct, but ended up cancelling my account, as I couldn't get them to stop sending me loads of junk mail I didn't want.

I've been with First Direct nearly 4 years and I've never received junk mail from them....0

Neither have I and I have been over 20 years with them. Send them a secure message telling them you do not want anymore junk mail. I'm sure there is something on their site when you log in which allows you to state how you want them to contact you with marketing etc. I ticked that I was happy to receive emails from them as want to make sure I don't miss any offers."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Me neither, only ever had mortgage interest notifications and yearly mortgage statement.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

I have a feeling that some years ago I had a word with them about the number of "recommend a friend" and other mailings I was getting, they agreed to stop and in recent memory all I've had has been statements and changes of terms letters.Adventure before Dementia!0

All the banks want to get rid of any paper statements etc so can't understand why they would want to waste money on junk mail unless Hourcqs is referring to emails"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

No junk mail from FD here, either. I haven't opted out of marketing/sales promotions, but I rarely get anything from First Direct.0

Never had any junk mail from FD at all !0

Did you check your marketing options? I always opt out of everything and never had any unsolicited mail, email or phone calls from First Direct.

No junk mail here either.0

I don't understand this line of thinking. Why not contact the bank to discuss the issue before closing the account. There's clearly a method of stopping junk mail as per the above posts.
This is like a post I read yesterday where someone opened a bank account with Lloyds because she thought HSBC had put a block on her card, and it turned out to be a damaged card. What will your verse be?
