Sounds like good timing with the Vectra, I'm presuming it was the pre-facelift model, bought when the Insignia was announced. About right?

Something like that, back in the height of the credit crunch, nobody wanted big cars and people were being tempted by the lie that was the scrappage scheme..... You know the one where they put the prices up by 2k and then give you 2k for your old car :rotfl:

The used car market is much better now, but most people still don't want big cars.

Scrappage actually worked out for a few people who traded in an old banger for a cheap city car (i10), basically the Government was chucking in £1k and the dealer the other £1k (which you would get already from haggling).

The used market is very strong, as it should be. There shouldn't really be a huge depreciation drop every time the plates change, it doesn't happen in many other countries. But Britain is a throwaway economy, always wanting the next new shiny thing.

Works out well if your a 2nd hand buyer ;)

If the banks and the super rich are taking advantage of the social class driven credit/finance cash cows, then I don't feel so bad doing the same when they upgrade to their next status symbol
