The principle behind the smart meters seem a good idea and i'd have one once all the teething problems have been sorted. But that last bit Sacs i don't think i'm loony but i'm against fracking.

Of course not Sailorsam, just a bit of fun, however had a good couple of rants lately against smarts by a bloke with BNP stickers and Union Jacks displayed all over his house windows,he had a faceful of rings and tattoos. another with a beard like Seasick Steve opened his window ( woulld nt let me in of course ) and vented his spleen against smarts, said he was refusing them at all costs,. my judgement of anti smarters is coloured by these sorts of characters I meet.
Good Guardian article Diywhynot, I think my company, G4S is installing smarts now. I think the main reason for smart meters is not consumer use , but power stations and gas producers.

yes its quite common, some are proberbly just ashamed of their houses. I pass on some refusals to the Revenue Protection people at Brit Gas who do a useage check.I havent got any rights of entry so its up to the occupier. There are many reasons why people refuse entry, its up to them really. I am ok with it

Hi Ilona Your meter reader is correct. I certainly wouldnt have one fitted unless I have to. You may receive useful info from the meter but your supplier is receiving valuable info about you.

Have been reporting several meters to BG for years (blank meter) still waiting for them to take action. I use to change the battery on the ones I found but was told to stop and just report it.
