T-Mobile FUP Changes without Consultation

Well it looks like this is the final straw with this awful internet provider.
I used to top up my internet dongle with £15 a month which would give me a perfectly reasonable amount of data for the money.
When this data was used I would be restricted to a lower connection between 4pm and midnight. Making it impossible to view videos or stream music. But at least I could still surf.
Now this has been scrapped, meaning once my data is used I can't view videos or stream music up to 4pm as before.
T-Mobile has made no effort to explain this or indeed contact me regarding these changes. I've complained on their Facebook page, like some other customers. The only thing they say is that I should upgrade to 4G. Yup, spend more money or hard cheese!
I wonder how OFCOM would view this, considering they have tried this before?
Be interesting to hear other opinions

Unlock the thing and use it with a THREE SIM... such as this one.0

It might be hard to justify complaining on this one
You pay X money for X amount of data and that part still hasn't changed.
The only difference is when you run out of the data you purchased you no longer get a free throttled connection to use instead.
The T&C's will likely be worded in a particular way to allow this. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I think the actual data set down has been reduced also.
They are so full of it they should be on Watchdog0 -

As I suggested...change to THREE. You get three times as much data for less than the £15 you pay to T-Mobile anyway.
I have a T-Mobile data SIM, but I only use it very occasionally on a day package. Their monthly package is poor value.
Unlock your modem and move along.0 -
I'll have a look at that Nifty, thanks for the info0

It's a Huawei E1750
USB STICK 610?
Instructions here
If you get stuck, let me know.
First you need the IMEI, which you then enter into the box on the website.
You receive the unlocking and flashing codes.
Pop an incompatible SIM in the modem, such as Vodafone and plug it in. A box should open asking for the code. If it doesn't, run the Code Writer software offered on that page. When it recognises your modem, you can enter your unlocking code to unlock the modem.
Done.
Next thing is that the T-Mobile software doesn't have any space to put the details in to add the connection details for other networks. So there is the option to install Huawei's Dashboard or Firmware with links on the first page.
Here are the connection details for other UK networks. You enter the relevant details for the SIM that you are using an set it as the Default.
Dial number is usually *99#.
Sounds complicated, but it isn't really. But it would be better if you have a another Internet connection whilst you attempt it, so that you can ask questions along the way.
This way you can use the thing with mostly any SIM, anywhere in the world.0 -
It's their product so they can change it as they see fit - you're not in a contract so if you don't like it you're free to leave.0
