4 years no pay rise. what action can employees take?

It hinges on "what advantage is there for the employer to give OP a pay rise"?0

I would've jumped !!!! after 2 years if no pay rise and i wasnt looking to retire there.0

Or rather than "put up and shut up" why not make a business case for increasing contracted hours for staff? A mutually beneficial solution could be arrived at.
Again so many posters here believe entering into any form of dialogue with their employer on pay and conditions will automatically be perceived as a dangerous attack on capitalism that will lead to everyone being out of a job!
Or being given no hours all of a sudden. The time for discussion was some time ago.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Well interestingly enough I am (was?) in the same position as the OP.
No payrise for 4 yrs and found out by chance that a new starter was on more money than me - which really twisted the knife.
After being promised that my salary would be looked at for months I got fed up and started applying for jobs. Eventually got an interview (an acknowledgement of your application form these days is a rarity!) and got the job .....which pays a £5k more than I was on.
What I am saying OP is that there is no point moaning about it - the only person who can do something about it is you - whether that be putting a case for a payrise or getting off your !!!!! and getting a better paid job.....as my OH said when was first promised a review of my salary - why would they pay you more if you're daft enough to the work anyway?2014 Target;

Of course that is a danger with zero/low hours contracts. All the more reason for colleagues standing together when negotiating with the employer!0 -
does anybody actually like living in a society where working people have to change jobs every year to avoid getting poorer?
who decided society must be like this? could the country cope if most of us changed jobs every year?
and have we got to accept the way things are? if enough people decided they dont like living in a society where working people have to change jobs every year - is there anything we could do about it, or do the lizard people like it like this?0 -

At the end of the day if my soon-to-be ex-boss had sorted out my salary when it was first raised then I wouldn't have started looking for a new position - and lets be honest about this, I doubt very much I would have even started looking at the job market let alone had anywhere near £5k pay rise.
Yes I know the company has had issues which are far more important than my salary increase but when does that little niggle become important? As it is now, instead of sorting out an employee's pay rise, the company has to go through the hassle of advertising, interviewing not to mention bringing the replacement up to speed.....and I'd bet my bottom dollar that the new recruit's starting salary will be higher than my existing salary.
So sometimes moneysaving can actually cost you more in the long run2014 Target;

Have you heard about the recession, caused by the banking crisis and being managed by the Tories? The way to reject these things is with your vote. Or your feet. If you stay in the job, rather than go find a new one, then are you accepting this situation more or less than the person who tells it like it is? Or you could of course start your own company and never let it happen to you...until you have to start cutting your prices as the money starts going down and down of course.Sanctimonious Veggie.
