    You didn't buy them from Tesco did you?

    I bought some from them a couple of years ago, they are stiffened with fabric stiffener and actually not silk (just look like it).

    I bunged mine in the washing machine last year and crossed my fingers. Although the fabric seemed to go hard when wet (which made me panic) when they dried, they softened up a bit and could be ironed no problem. I also used the iron and paper towel option as the matching runner had candle wax on it.
