MSE Blog: Would you live at a murder scene to bag a house price discount?

I suppose it would depend whether the facts of a murder happening in a house were revealed or not when I was buying. If I didn't know, I wouldn't bother. But if I did, like many, I'd do a double take, and see what that means for me.
I would imagine that many, many houses are sold every day where awful domestic violence leading to the deaths of partners and children happen. But I wonder does everyone search the archives before exchanging?
I don't believe in ghosts, or any of that malarkey. But I do think if KNEW that something bad had happened in the house, I would put very creak and noise down to bad karma or something.
SO DON'T TELL ME!0 -
Definitely! Would not bother me at all.
As someone else has said I bet lots of people are living in a house unaware someone has been murdered there. 5-7 women a week are killed by their partners.0 -

In which country is that then? Googling your claim shows that the figure was 2 per week at a recent high point but is now falling:

Anyway, i wouldn't want to live in a murder house. I think it would just give off an overall sense of dread and forboding for me.0 -

It would spook me terribly.
I also believe that houses retain atmospheres from past events.0 -
No.
It would come under the category of 'too obsessive about getting a discount / saving money'.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Absolutely not. The old terraced house I've lived in for the last 8 years has had items of clothing moving themselves around the house when nobody was inside (I'm serious).0 -
Yeah I'm way off! I'm sure it was 5-7.fail.
Oh well I'd still live in a murder house. It would be a gruesome talking point.0 -
Yes I would but would draw the line at the house in question with body parts down the drains. All houses of any age have a history of good and bad.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

You're not joking, that's serious. I should get them into the washing machine pronto, before they walk out the door!:rotfl:0
