My first thought would be, buy more ram https://www.crucial.com and use the memory selector. In the short-term you could try 'Optomising' WinXP:

and don't forget to buy more RAM.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
checked that website dont do it cpi latitude d any other good companies

you could always put 98 back on. (if you have the disk). XP needs a lot more ram to run smoothly.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

netgear card is not compatible with windows 980 -
Wouldn't have thought a P2-266 would have a hope with XP, no matter how much memory you put in it. I'd go with Albert's suggestion and put Win98 back on (or upgrade slightly to WinME - better for USB stuff). Even then, it's likely to be slow - would guess it must be well over 10 years old?0

Back to win98 I reckon. Wouldn't touch ME with yours!

I had a feeling you might say that, not even 98SE?
Not much you can do then, unless you can get some cheap ram, or another wireless card, it's possibly not a viable system for wireless.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
