Hu, I'm currently on the talk talk 3.25 a month for 12 months deal, with the line rental paid upfront. It runs outnst the end of the month. I looked online and found a similar deal, which is 3.75 per month. I phoned customer services, and they said that was only for new customers, a d could only offer a good deal if I took their TV services aswell., whihch I really don't need.
The account is in my name only. Can I cancel e account, and have a new one for same house, same umber but in my DJ's name?
Thanks

try calling their retentions dept, you should have better luck there0

Thanks. Would I just phone and say I want to leave? I'd want to take the saver line rental and then hopefully get e half price broadband again for another year, as this worked out well for us this year.0

I just called them (they have a special retentions dept) and said my contract was coming up for renewal and what could they offer me. I didn't need to threaten to leave or anything. I'd expect them to agree to the half price essentials again.0

If you cancel and resubscribe, then you'll have a break in service. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Will give them a call and hopefully get the half price broadband again then, would not have the hassle of changing suppliers etc.0

I get good response from the correspondence. They phone me when they get my letter so no charge to me other than a stamp.
The people in the correspondence dept have high levels of discounting authority and they speak in accents that are easy to understand.

"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.

I`m in the same position as you with my contract ending early next month.
My upfront line rental runs out early October but as long as it`s paid by 29th Sept, I get it at the old price.
When your contract expires, if you do nothing, you just go onto a 30 day rolling contract, currently £6-50 for Essentials.
(£7-50 after the increase).
Obviously if I can get another 12 month contract at half price that would suit me fine.
Let us know how you get on phoning retensions and what deal they offered you to stay.
I had to phone up a couple of weeks ago to report a fault and basically I got a sales pitch about upgrading to youview, so be very careful what you agree to.0 -
I recently received an email stating prices are increasing and I have 30 days in which I can cancel my subscription.
I am in the 8th month of a 12 month contract (deal was half price essentials for 9 months), plus I pay up my telephone in advance.
I called TalkTalk and said I wanted to cancel based on price increase, however I may be tempted to stay if they would offer me a very good fibre deal.
They offered me £5 fibre (38 meg) and 6 months 1/2 price essentials on a 18 month contract. I said this was nice, but too expensive and I would like to cancel unless they could offer 18 month fibre at £5 and 18 months half price essential. I also said I know this deal exists as my friend was offered this (I small lie on my part). The guy agreed, I have now started a new 18 month contract (the remaining three months on my existing contract have been cancelled off essentially making the contract 15 months). Also gave me free installation worth £30.
I asked if I continue to pay my line rental every year, what happens on the last year as my broadband contract would end before my line rental annual payment. He said if I was to cancel at the end of my contract, I would receive a refund for unused line rental.
I know this is not the same deal you were asking for, however just ask retentions and be firm but pilot about what you need from them in order to remain a loyal customer.
PS, I had to call twice to get this. First time the chap said he could not help me with any discount, so I said I'd think about it. The second time I called, the guy was very helpful and sorted the deal.0 -
Just gotten off the phone to them. I've renewed my line saver line rental, SL won't be affected by the price increase in that for this year.
Am getting the essentials broadband half price again for another yearm , which is 3.75 I did ask for the 50 voucher new customers are getting, but that was a no go, as the guy checked my account and saw I'd had a voucher when I first joined. Fair enough really, thought I might be push my luck!
I was also offered the TV deal, and had to keep saying no until they put me through to the rententions team. Well worth the phone call :-)0
