Has Martin reviewed Worldpay Zinc machine for very small businesses?

Options
I read about this machine in the Mail online today and it could be just what I'm looking for. As a therapist, I currently take payments from clients of between £30-£75 by cash or cheque, and sometimes internet banking, but I'm often asked about card payments, as people don't like to carry too much cash around and see cheques as antiquated.
You can buy this machine from John Lewis for £60 and use it together with your phone. The owner is charged 2.75% per transaction which I can probably absorb or even pass on.
Does Martin rate it? What do people think? Is there a better way for one- wo/man-bands to offer card payment facilities?

I use it, works well. You need an iPhone, Blackberry or Android phone with internet connection to use it.

The lack of standing charge is what makes this attractive - you get the money in your account overnight, it's a winner.

There's also a £20 offer if you are referred here https://www.worldpayzinc.com/referafriend and there is a referral thread in the referrers board (I've referred a couple of people now myself who came asking)

Thanks Paddy, also for this referral idea and link - a bit of a no-brainer!

No problem. In my line of business it's usually all bank transfers etc., however sometimes for smaller gigs it is handy to be able to close a sale where transfer is inconvenient and the client doesn't have cash to hand.

I use it. I run a property maintenance company and use it for large amounts.

It cost 65p for debit cards (which I absorb) and 3.3% for cc (which I pass on). No monthly fees and money is in my account 3 days later.

I use it via an iPad and it has reduced the amount of time I spend dealing with cheques.

Is maxed out at £2k per transaction and a total of £25k per year.

Would certainly recommend it. It's really easy to use as well.

Hi Phil99, you may want check if that's still the best deal for you, as the current contracts going out are at 2.75% for both debit and credit cards, no monthly or other fees. Worse for debit card transactions over £24, but better for credit cards and transactions under £24.

Thanks paddy. I had the option to go on the 2.75% deal. It wasn't cost effective for me. All but 2 of my transactions since I started using world pay have been via debit card. Most are for high amounts. The lowest was £150 and the latest (yesterday) was for £1800. With the 2.75% deal that would have cost me £49.50 as opposed to 65p! And with cc I add the 3.3% on top of the invoice amount.

But thanks for letting me know.

No worries, sounds like you're much better off with the 65p in your case!

Just my luck, I have just picked up five hours a week doing legal documents for a local agency. They want their customers to pay me directly. This means I need to take these small transaction, but don't want to hand over the documents.

    So, a referral please?

    Thanks
