Yes, you could try restoring to an earlier restore point remember that something you have installed, etc since that restore point and now could be removed.

If that doesn't work (and if you haven't already) then disabling the system restory, restarting the computer and follow same instructions except enable the system restore as mentioned in a previous post.

Hi bb, thanks for all your help, Mr Skint too. I am going to switch off then shut down , then restart now. That poss. is then out of the way. Strangely tho the restore point I did for the 23rd is still there. Wierd. Cant understand it.

You can change (registry knowledge is required though) the elapsed time before another restore point is automatically created (24hours is default), and the life of the restore points (90days). See M$ article on it.

It is possible by messing around with the registry and/or the System Restore registry entries that you could cause serious problems that may require you to re-install Windows. M$ only recommends changing certain things (what I mentioned above), the rest is to be left alone. Only attempt this if you have knowledge of navigating around the registry, etc and only then attempt at your own risk

I thought the restore points would last a lot longer than that ie from day 1 of the computer, assuming you dont turn the restore option off!

They should, as long as the total size of the restore folder is smaller than the space originally allocated. Under normal circumstances old restore points should be deleted only in case you don't have enough space for a new one(s).

According to M$ article (scroll down to the 'RPLifeInterval' section) they are automatically deleted after 90 days.
