No! You can ask the Utility company to disconnect you, but they will charge when you need to be re-connected.
Ditto for water.0 -
If this is going to be for any length of time, switch to a none-standing charge tariff, which are disappearing from most suppliers. Ebico is your best bet.
Bare in mind it'll take four to six weeks to switch, so say if you're leaving the house empty for three months it'd be worth switching, but not otherwise.0 -
You could turn off the gas at the meter and switch off at the fusebox to avoid any usage..0

You dont need to disconnect anything, just turn it all off at the meter.
As soon as you have sold the house, just before exchange take readings and supply them to the suppliers, the new owners will take over the account as soon as they buy the place.0 -
The house will be worth a lot less without connected services ... and could indeed put buyers off altogether.
Why do you want to have the services disconnected?
Did you buy it, or even your new property, without connected services?0 -
sorry "disconnected" wasn't the right word ,what i wanted was to close my account ,its now been sortedThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If the house is empty also look to drain down the water -avoids any problems of leaks if it is empty... Granted its not winter time..0
