Getting a bit concerned - MET Parking & GPB Solicitor Letters

Great idea...
I shall take your advice once in Australia and compose a letter along the lines of "whilst I deny any knowledge of any alleged debt to your company, I would appreciate if you send any further correspondence to my new address...(Australian address).
Will be interesting to see their reply.
Of course, I will update here as well.0 -
On reflection it's probably best to send (by 2nd class post) a couple of days before you leave for Oz, telling them that as of blah blah date your address will be etc. etc. That way you can get a proof of posting at the post office and the postage will be cheaper!Je suis Charlie.0

Might look more authentic with an Aussie postage stamp on the envelope. Less doubt for the PPC that it's not some wheeze. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Thanks for the advice all. I think I have a way of getting it sent from Australia before I go (I can email a copy to someone over there and they can send it). I'm sure that I can get them to do proof of postage from over there.
At least I know that way that it will be stopped in its tracks.
Thanks again and I will update when or if anything happens.0 -

And as this is a money savings site, a bit more advice - get them to pay for it. :rotfl:

Hi all, teejay1 here only this time I've used my other moniker (I've have no idea why I have 2, perhaps I forgot I already had one when posting this thread).
Was just doing some more reading up on this (as had a letter from Zenith now) and found this little gem of info that back ups up bazters postMET never takes anyone to court and DRP can't take anyone to court.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/322893/british-parking-association.doc
I've also posted this on the NEWBIES STICKY thread.
However, I do have one question.
I've been researching the deadline for appeal timescales and although the parking operator normally gives 28 days to appeal (or for them to send a rejection letter) I've read other posts that say POPLA themselves don't set an appeals deadline.
Having been onto the POPLA site, it does say that appeals should be logged within 28 days.
http://www.popla.org.uk/makinganappeal.htm#whencan
Now, am I misreading this or have POPLA put in an appeals deadline?
To me it reads that IF you have a POPLA code you should appeal to them within 28 days. If you've fallen outside the parking operators 28 day appeal process and DON't have a POPLA code, you should still be able to get a one by writing a stroppy letter and referencing Halsey v Milton Keynes General NHS Trust
Thoughts anyone?
By the way, not moved abroad yet but managed to get a letter posted from our new place to MET.
As soon as (if) I get a reply, I'll post here0 -
No you are muddling two different 28 day deadlines.
PPCs give a person 28 days to appeal then tell people to 'bog off' if an appeal arrives later - and they don't issue a POPLA code then.
Yes - you should, but you won't get one! Don't bother.you should still be able to get a one by writing a stroppy letter and referencing Halsey v Milton Keynes General NHS Trust
But the other 28 days is the POPLA code use-by date where one HAS been issued. Not the same 28 days.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the FOI link, the table pulls together and adds to the two previous tables which were respectively 10/12 to 03/13 and 04/13 - 03/14. I've bookmarked it for future reference and copying the link into replies to newbie queries about 'who does court'.
It's quite shocking that ParkingEye have taken 22,000 citizens of just England and Wales to the small claims court in that time, and most will have been in the period 06/13 to 03/14 - 10 months! Over 2,000 people every month. It is appalling!
Anyway, back to your question. Yes POPLA do set a deadline. This is 28 days from the date of the rejection letter, and is absolutely rigid, no second chance! This 28 days is a quite different time period from the 28 days that (most) PPCs provide for the motorist to make the initial appeal to them. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
