This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Fly by visit as need to get ready for work.
Salads for lunches and liver for dinner then some ebaying tonight. One parcel to post today.
Have managed to get to DH's payday tomorrow without touching endowment shortfall fund. So hope to be able to add more to it tomorrow and take a chunk off our debt too.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hello all. Late shift at work today. Don't like the late shifts!
Need to pop to B&Q this morning for some white silicone to decorate a couple of photo frames for my craft markets at the weekend. I'm experimenting with Decoden - hugely over the top, but very pretty!
Didn't sleep well again last night, even after a mug of warm milk and honey. Think I need another 2 weeks off work!
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all.
Nearly 12 hours sleep here so I am :j , I always sleep well after a day volunteering, its exhausting !
Jools re your concert tickets and programmes, if you do deciede to sell check out ebay before yopu boot sale them, some are worth a fair bit, and I would rather you and the kids has the money than some dealer, let me know if you need help with ebay xx
Need to drop dd at work this morning, then home for a quick tidy round and shower, then off to see my Dad who is 80 today ! :bdaycake:we are taking him some fish and chips which we hope he is able to eat it we mash it a bit.
This afternoon I am taking dd to get her CRB check for uni £50 , it has to be done before she starts !
Right better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :j
Sunshine here again today, it's so lovely to have a proper summer after the last few washouts.:) I have my second load in the washing machine and will peg out when it's finished. Dishwasher will be unloaded as soon as the DD responsible is up and then I have a few jobs for them to keep them busy.
Yesterday was horrendous with DDs bickering and physically punching and kicking each other. It did reduce me to tears, I hate it when they are so horrible to each other. I do remember being exactly the same with my sisters though and we are fine now so hopefully it will all blow over.
I looked into enrolling on a cake decorating course this morning but they want £234  . Also the course is in the evening and I'm scared to go out in the dark so I'd have to factor in the cost of a taxi every week too. It's a no go I think but there are hundreds of tutorials on youtube so I may just get some basic stuff and have a go. I'm quite arty-farty so hopefully it won't be a disaster.:rotfl:
I'm covered in scratches from the evil kittens but we are at last getting their ear medicine in them. We have a good system where DD12 sits on them and I quickly squirt the stuff in but my goodness, those kittens have sharp claws. I shall be very glad once they have finished the course.:D
Tea tonight is going to be ham, egg and chips. A nice cheap and cheerful meal which is very popular in this house. I've been drooling over some of the photos in the 'what's for dinner' thread. It's given me some great ideas to ring the changes as we tend to get stuck in a rut with meals.
Anyway, that's all my babbling for today. Hope everyone manages to enjoy some sunshine. Gentle hugs offered to anyone who wants one.
Take care
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Good morning all,
Sunny here at the moment but there are some rather dull looking clouds that seem to be coming our way.
redruby, happy birthday to your Dad :bdaycake:, hope he enjoys his fish and chips x
Hubby is at work, dd will be off to work shortly and other dd is at her bf's. Another day of bliss and a tidy house! When the dd's are here they just seem to make a mess in whatever room they go in.
Will take the dog out for a walk later. Pick some carrots and green beans from the allotment for tea tonight. I will hoover right through again and dust as i go.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all,
I'm off to ds3 school shortly to see his teacher and try and persuade her to allow him to resit. He is very nervous, wish us luck.:o
I made tater ash and dumplings last night which was delish. The leftovers will be made into a meat and pot pie tonight for tea.
We are nipping to see ds2 tonight as they have a new table and chairs to show off:D
My dd has an insurance exam today as well so lots of positive vibes there as well. She is very good with exams and usually does very well, fingers crossed.
Happy Birthday Red Ruby's Dad, hope he has a lovely day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all!
Redruby Happy birthday to dad! The kids have looked into various places to sell OHs LP's, programmes etc, I will leave it to them as they have a plan, DD and her boyfriend have researched footie memorabilia , and collectibles as we also have some old coins and things acquired from various family members!
Not sure what I will get up to today, plan on a quick trip to town to look for something to wear, going to a 40th birthday bash on Friday so looking for something smarter than my usual jeans and top! Chicken thighs for dinner, will rustle up a Chinese style marinade and toss them in the fridge and will have a quick stir fry or something.
Right, better get dressed, the earlier I get to town the quieter the shops will be and the quicker I will get home, have a good day allRIP Iain

Morning all,
WM on with the dark load, recycling bags ready to go out tonight and kitchen is tidyRoutine is starting to take shape.
Today I am going to sort out my financial folder as the ringbinder is broken and several poly pockets have got damaged. I rummaged about and have found a ringbinder to repurpose and a pile of virtually pristine pockets so no spend needed :money:
I also need to plug on with the ironing as the pile never seems to diminish. DH has a talent to create crumples so even seersucker needs ironing.
I'm thinking of taking him out for a meal tonight as he is very down: he's doing the probate for his mum and he's had to ask people she trusted some very awkward questions - the answers were unbelievable
RR, happy birthday to your dad
Hugs all round xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all
Aiming for a NSD today so we'll see how that goes. Feeling really positive this morning after yesterday's cleaning and fasting successes, I even managed to do my face care routine which fell by the way side 4 months ago, and I have makeup on this morning, both minor miracles in themselves. Got some soup for lunch which was retreived from the freezer before the weekend so I hope it's still ok. Might have a go at a shepherdess pie for tea, I'll see how I feel when I get in.
dumpling, good luck with the cake decorating. I subscribe to a cake decorating magazine which is quite good. It's £2.99 a week and you get a peice of decorating equipment every week so it feels like quite good value. I have to say I haven't used much of it yet, but I like looking at the pictures. I must start practising, I would love to have a cake decorating business some day.0 -
Morning All,
Jools - a big thumbs up to you and the family for reaching this stage on what I'm sure has been a very emotional road.
TTFTM - well done on making your financial target for the month.
Redruby - happy birthday to your father; nice to have something to celebrate after your recent sad events.
Julie - good luck to DD in exams today.
Judi - hope the news from the baby house continues to be positive.
Pleasant day here today, but some rain forecast for tonight.
Have been busy finalising plans for my retirement party at he end of September. Invites, for about 150, have been printed, so now they all have to be given out. Thankfully most can be handed out, so we have a busy few days ahead of us.
Have a good day everyone :beer:0
