And so it begins.   £1.5k on a new boiler...

Didn't get the job.  They recruited internally.  Wish employers would be honest and let people know they intend to recruit internally, saving external candidates time and effort.  What a waste of a day's leave!  Anyway, their loss.

Sorry to hear that both about the job and the boiler. I agree it’s crap that people recruit externally when they really want internal. Waste of a day but you did get to practise your interview skills.

Sorry about the boiler is that a brand new one? If so it should be more efficient and save a bit of money.

Thanks TG.  Yes, nothing we can do about the recruitment.  The desire to be seen to be 'doing the right thing' is what perpetuates this poor practice.

Yes, a new boiler, so efficiencies 'should' be seen.  I never see the 'save you a bit of money' part of it, because how much gas could I have purchased with that 1.5k?  Quite a bit, if you get my drift!!  Anyway, it was an old boiler and needed replacing at some point.  They always go wrong in winter, so you have to fix them immediately.

Mortgage payments still on track.  £2k extra this month from savings, sold some shares.  I will do this!

Sorry about the job. Hope you find another as or more interesting to go for.

Good luck with the boiler. When we upgraded to a combi boiler we did see savings - but I agreed those savings need to be in place for years before you recover the capital cost.

More money going out... just paid the tax bill.  But, the money shuffle has kept me on track with my cunning plan for the year.  Pots are being used in ways they were not intended, but needs must this year.  One singular direction of travel, and NOTHING is going to stop this.
