You can't tax a new car online or over the phone. It has to be done at the PO. Likewise a covering letter with pol number on is NOT suffice. It has to be the certificate of insurance.

In future though OP you should get reminders through in the post and you'll be able to tax online or over the phone using the reference provided. You then need no docs as it's all done electronically!

Can I remind you of the Op's post - which part didn't you read before posting? ChickabiddybexI just did it online and the disc arrived the next day! I was very impressed.

According to the OP's first post I don't think they meet the DVLA requirements for on-line registration.

ChickabiddybexI must have met them to get through the process.

Clearly the OP sorted his problem online, as I suggested! He did it online, as I suggested, job done! Thread closed! Nothing more to answer!

I have no idea why people post, after the event.

No he is going to the post office, as the link in post 13, you can only do it on-line if you are the registered keeper, which at that stage the OP won't be.

The OP CLEARLY sorted the issue in post number #8, therefore the issue closed, job done, so I have no idea what you are saying? Why post later, that relates to nothing after then?

No, in post 4 he thanked for the advice and stated that he would go down tomorrow.

I said that to my girlfriend last night. Your point is?

I think you make incredulous connatations.

Is it possible for a forum to make more than 7 posts, until the forum bullies show their true face? Plenty in media recently? Methinks people on here are the next to go to jail, for posting NOTHING, when the post has been answered? Grow up people!

    Hi Ratboy

I'm impartial. I've not been involved earlier.

I think there may be confusion...
Chickabiddybex from post 8 is not the OP - Xaviat from post 4 is the OP.

Xaviat is going to the post office tomorrow to tax the car as he can't do it online till his Registered Keeper papers go through DVLA's database.

    :)

"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say. :)

I'm very sorry, for someone saying they did it online, after the advice was given, to a person that didn't reply, that feels the need, even after posting to ignore that advice, and take the paper route; when it is a 5 minute task online, but a fuss and a queue at a post office; but if people choose to ignore information, and I get confused, due to conflicting information, well hey! All I can do is give my OPINION. Hence the nature of a FORUM. MyBAD.

    Phew - what a confusion!

I bet some folks still don't understand why you can't do it on-line if you don't have a complete V5C.

    See post #10.
