Vodafone , lost/stolen info
Options
I just found out, if your on Vodafone, and your phone is lost or stolen and you don't have insurance.
Instead of paying off the contract, you can report it to the police (i think this is a must), then you can call Voda customer service, and even though your still in contract, you can upgrade to a new phone, the price will be slightly discounted and it does add a new contract term to your plan ~(ie 12 or 18 months), But it is a good option, instead of just cancelling.

The main prob with that is that the mobile will be permanently blocked and you then have a useless handset as any handset reported lost/stolen is blocked from use on all networks.0

No, if you have lost or had your phone stolen, you can upgrade to a brand new phone.
How will the phone be blocked ?0 -

But surely thats a good thing as then anyone who finds or steals your handset can't use it?
My daughter's payg Virgin handset was stolen, Virgin blocked the phone and sim straight away but sent her a new simcard with her existing number and credit a week later.0 -

Yeah , the lost/stolen one will be blocked so no-one can use it, but you can get a brand new upgrade, thats the main point.
If thats what you meant BBB, then thats right. But your new phone will not be blocked.0 -

UPDATE: In fact, I've registered my phone (IMEI) with Immobilise.com even though I know that the networks can get your IMEI as it's transmitted along and recorded when you make a call.0
