Brick Lane is wonderful and I think you need to let your eyes guide you as to what restaurant to go in. You will get bombarded by men and children standing along the length of Brick Lane trying to entice you into their restaurant. From my experience they all serve good cheapish food....
The beigal shops at the other end of Brick Lane are good too for salt beef if you are still hungry! ;)
My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

I got told from a local friend that this one is the best. Preem Resturant

He said it was the only one which does not have touts out side.

we play the touts off against each other, we normally end up with a free bottle of wine by claiming thats what the "other" restaurant offered, if non drinkers then aim for free starters

Apologies for updating this old thread but it looks like the best place for my little conundrum!

I love brick land and always go there when I am in London. I was there last week and there were no touts at all. Quite strange really. Have I missed something or did I just go on a bad day?

I find 'The Monsoon' is a great restaurant in Brick Lane. Last time (mid-week) we had a large free bottle of kingfisher or cobra each, plus 20% off the entire bill. Fantastic value.

And no touts! Blimey, what was going on that day?!
  • There is one that is called Chillies the are really good too!

How funny! This is the only one I've had a bad meal from...
Looks like it's luck of the draw!
But I definately would play them off one another! They will go to great lengths to get you in their door!

    Enjoy

It's a bit off Brick Lane, but easily the best curry I've ever had was at Tayyabs - just as cheap as Brick Lane, no touts, and you have to queue because it's very popular, but the food is *fantastic*. And it's BYOB which keeps the cost down!

I'd agree with liz there Tayyabs is great, there's a cafe on Brick Lane called Sweet and Spicy, that's very good too.

Many of the others are much of a muchness, and are nothing special as a few places have got a bit lazy.

I work bnear Brick Lane btw,
