Just transferred week 5 (a few days late!) so my new total is now £36.

Have got a notebook with all the amounts written on and I cross an amount out each week. Am going to try and mix and match big figures with smaller ones to try and make it easier. I must admit, all my payments have been under £10 so far with one at £20 as Jan / Feb are really expensive months for me!

Going to have to figure out how I get some of the bigger payments made. Thinking ebay / quidco cashback payments / savings made on grocery spend / mileage payments from work. Have also cancelled a professional subscription I don't really need so that with save me £23 a month which can certainly help towards this challenge. DETERMINED to get there as this is my first bigger savings challenge. :)

Week 5 for me, up to £250. Only reason I managed it this week was because my food shop was lower than it has been for a while. So glad the numbers are going down.

  • Hi folks,

I've just joined MSE and was wondering if I could participate in this excellent thread? I know it's February now, but I could play catch up and then carry on with the rest of you if ok?

    Thanks very much!

  • Hiya,

I started this the first week in January. Although to make it slightly less daunting I have all the numbers written down and just pick a random amount per week, but don't duplicate, so therefore I wont have to keep back £51 on Christmas week.
Aiming towards a better future ~ debt free to of course

    Current Debt (January 14):
    Barclaycard credit card ~ £790
    Nationwide Credit Card ~ £840
    Nationwide Personal Loan ~ £1900

Just added Week 6 and chuffed that the £6 came from cash for clothes so no need to 'find it'

  • WEEK 25 IS IN! Total of £325

This is the most I have ever saved in my life. Great thread and idea. Find it motivating and not inclined to spend it.
