Hopefully you'll get a hefty fine and have to pay it all back
shame you can't be prosecuted. I have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

OP over how long and how much approx?0 -
Woodbine, I think you'll find that what I've said is correct.
You won't be prosecuted but you can be fined and you will have to pay back what you wrongfully claimed.
Which is the way it should be!I have a simple philosophy:

The Government changed the law. You can and will be prosecuted. All Local Authorities are running Data Matching Reports on all people claiming Single Person Discounts. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

OP doesn't claim the discount now - would such reports look at historic claims?0 -

I received a letter each year when I was on my own asking to confirm that I was still single and stating that I could be prosecuted if I provided wrong information. Is this not standard procedures for all councils?0

Oh sorry, didn't realise you had to be all fluffy with people who knowingly fail to declare things
Housing Benefit Officer, thanks for clarifying the prosecution status. I didn't realise they had brought this in to action
About time. I have a simple philosophy:

I've never received such a letter in the 10 years I've been claiming the single person discount.0
