Nonsense. Not racist just practical cos we're a nation of polite idiots.
I can agree to the sentiment that the scam is playing on a cultural trait of the British. However it IS racist to state that the perpetrators are 'non-british' if there is no basis for the claim.0 -

They can be foreign without being brown........ It's not racist, it's a fact.
People screaming "OMG your so racist" is the reason why this sh*t carries on.
I don't give a rats behind what colour your skin is, or where you hail from, if you commit a crime on British soil you should be subject to the same laws as everyone else. That goes for Johnny foreigner just as much as Johnny the banker.
It's exactly like the highway robberies against British people in Spain, they're being committed by migrants from eastern Europe.
The main factor is taking advantage of British values, coupled with limited traceability and the use of alias names.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

So for 'racist' substitute 'prejudiced', I don't mind what term you use, the fact is what you wrote is prejudiced.
For the 3rd time - what basis is there for the claim?0 -
I hope you all realize that flashing headlights in most other countries means "Hold back I'm coming through."
Only here does it mean "After you."
Part of my job in another life was organizing Humanitarian Aid convoys - mostly driven by volunteers, many of whom were on their first trip across the channel.
They did things like flash headlights and then wait for the other vehicle to move - but of course the other vehicle didn't.
This happening in the UK could well be a scam - but it might not be - it could be a misunderstanding of what exactly a flash of the headlights actually means.
If you check the Highway Code you'll find good advice - it means a warning of approach - 'Be aware - I am here' - same as using your horn. In this country most times a horn is used in rebuke - not so everywhere.0 -
Also note, a lot of the scam gangs hide behind third parties. So they will contact someone through their network who wants to do an insurance scam, carry out the "accident" for them and then put in the details of the third parties in their claim while they handle the claim.
If you are a victim of a suspected insurance scam. Make sure you take pictures of all the people in the accident as well. That will catch them out if they try to put the vehicles owners detail in the claim.
On the documentry, they showed 3-4 men in their 20s carry out the collision, and then the claims were under middle age people. some were women too!
What I dont get is how can these dodgy claims company can continue this for an elongated period of time.
Surely these scam claims company will have a suspiciously higher than normal claims for whiplash and extortionate claims costs. It's just a matter of time when that claims company gets too much attention and they have private investigators crawling all over them. Perhaps all claims companies are a bit scammy and pad up the claims costs, which makes them expensive.0 -

Why don't you investigate that for yourself?
It's not hard, a few Google and Youtube searches.
"Crash for cash" would be a good place to start.
"Crash for cash manchester" yields most relevant results because it was central to the biggest crash for cash gang in the UK.
TBH I feel that your being racist in your demands, one could accuse your typical council estate chav of a crime and nobody would have any doubt, but as soon as someone mentions a person not of UK origin, you jump up demanding written proof signed by all the world leaders.
Which only goes to prove the point that the law is clearly not able to be evenly practised across all of society.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Strider the documentary showed both people of asian and white origin involved in the scam.
The common denominator seems to be poverty and not race. The insurance scams were rampant amongst poor people who feel it's ok to defraud the insurers.
I think technically all involved were British as they are settled here, own cars so I presume have residency here. But I think you're alluding to the perps being only ethnic minorities which is not the case.0 -

I've never mentioned race....... I said "These gangs are not (as far as im aware) native British".
It was the other dude that jumped on the racist bandwagon.
Eastern Europeans are central to a lot of organised crime of this sort, last time I looked they were white too.
The entire point of what i've said, is that these gangs do what they do because our Britishness lets them do things that we'd never expect and our political correctness lets them get away with it.
You can't apply the law fairly, if the PC brigade throw up brick walls as soon as you point a finger at the other 30, 40, 50% of the UK population. It's like the boy who cried wolf, the big R is just being used as a one liner to shut people up and silence the truth, it's losing it's value.... Which is a real shame for people who suffer REAL racial abuse on a daily basis.
Anyway, this is going way beyond topic.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I'm not entirely certain I follow you here - you seem to be saying I'm racist for asking you to provide support to your original claim that these scams are carried out by people who are not 'native British'?
You say google "Crash for cash Manchester" which throws a couple of results back involving a case from 3-4 years ago. Why don't you try "Crash for cash Durham" and see a more recent example.
I have no idea what beliefs you have - you'll see that through this discussion I was more than willing to concede that prejudiced may be more accurate than racist.
BUT, the point I was making is what you wrote came accross as prejudiced whether you meant it to or not or whether it's true or not.0
