Hi,
I have recently signed up with Equifax for free 30 day trial, but found that BT which I was with until 2009 and E.on, which I am with currently have incorrect month of birth on my account.
I raised it with Equifax and now I have got something like that on my file:
"My address"
NOTICE OF DISPUTE - THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED HAS DISPUTED THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION REGISTERED AT THIS ADDRESS AND WE HAVE NOW CONTACTED THE SUBSCRIBER CONCERNED. CARE SHOULD THEREFORE BE TAKEN WHEN USING THE DATA AT THIS ADDRESS TO ASSESS THE CREDITWORTHINESS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED.
The way i see it that until this is sorted every lender may refuse my application for loan/mortgage etc. ? Is that correct?
If yes, that means that I will have to keep paying Equifax monthly fee to make sure that I can see if that disappeared from my account. In other words if BT or E.on wont resolve it quickly with Equifax I can be paying subscription forever to Equifax
((((( I am so annoyed now that I even requested this to be looked at, as probably no lender would take any notice of different month of birth on this 2 accounts
What do you think guys? How quickly usually things like this get resolved?
Many thanks

Have you also checked call credit (via noddle is free) and experian? Latter can be done for £2 fee, as can equifax by the way.
Not sure hoe long it takes, but you could also ring BT and EON to tackle it from their end.:beer:0 -
Hey, you are not alone on this one! I have disputed a duplicate default on my credit file, Have logged on and got the exact same message! I do hope they sort it soon because now the box has turned yellow on the notice of correction bit yet still not heard off equifax.
I think if I haven't heard by next week I will give the a ring to see what is what.0 -

I have tried to register with Noddle. After entering my details twice I got the same message - technical error. Support was useless - they just informed me that this happens to certain members and they can't do much about that. Statutory report can be done for £2 - I know and I am beginning to think that this is my only option now to check it now and again, but how long it can take to rectify such a small, stupid mistake like that?

Tablet or laptop?
Tablets (ipads) sometimes do stupid things so try a laptop with internet explorer, Otherwise, sorry

Hmm, now you got me... I use both on many different occassions so it could be a tablet.
But still even if I get Noddle then I have got access to callcredit file. I still would have to pay Experian and Equifax to make sure it is changed on their files too. Is that right?0 -
Yep, but in my experience, all my accounts appear on all 3 and the status is pretty correct on all.
So noddle is a good starter and every now and then a £2 from the others.:beer:0 -

Hi eldaniel
Just thought I'd pop on and let you know your Date of Birth can be quickly amended from our end. Any of our advisors can do this for you.
We'll then share this information with Equifax.
Hope this helps.

oh no !!!! I filed 7 seperate inaccuracies on my file last night due to 7 accounts with defaults from 2007 with a different name and slightly different date of birth .
I thought I would be helping matters by notifying equifax etc.. to remove them as they aren't mine. That notice of correction makes it sound worse :-(
Have I damaged my file by reporting these debts and filing a NOC saying as much?0 -

Hi Malc,
Thank you very much for your reply. It is nice to see someone from E.on getting involved. I contacted E.on already in regards to that and it was rather funny conversation. As a security question I was asked my date of birth and I replied with my real date of birth. I passed security questions and then I got asked how can he (advisor) help me. Then I said that my date of birth is incorrect, which he agreed on. So how did I pass security check - I am not sure
Anyway in regards to things relevant to the topic - Date with E.on was changed in E.on but still on my "Credit Agreements" section I an see that date has not been changed.
I was told by Equifax customer service rep that although I can not see that this notice of correction relates to date of birth, lenders apparently can see that. I hope he was not telling me porkies.Watkinsfamilysdcm wrote: »oh no !!!! I thought that no lender look further than 6 previous years. If I am right that would mean that what happened in 2007 would be not even looked at, but again that is opinion of a guy who need advice on credit ratings himself

The defaults were late on in 2007 show still showing on my file although not mine. It's frustrating to say least lol. The message they put on yours makes it sound like they would be more wary, not less .
Just hope they get it sorted out for me :-/0
