We put in an offer for a house on Tuesday, not heard anything back at all, but was asked to go in on Saturday and see a finance person who checks we can afford it, which we can no problem.
Was looking on the site this evening to see dimensions of the bedroom again, and on the site it now says "SOLD STC"
We have heard nothing back, to say our offer has been accepted/denied or even if there was another offer put in by someone else, and when we saw the house they said we are the first people to see it
Needless to say we are sick worrying, as to whether or not, the offer has been accepted and will tell us tomorrow?
Furthur investigation seems it's illegal for them to accept another offer without telling us someone else has bidded (according to ombudsman).
Anyone else had this before? Do we just accept that it has been sold and move on?
We even walked to the house and doesn't say "SOLD" on the board, so really confused and sick to death of house hunting!, the last house we saw, we put in an offer, got accepted then the lady thought "nah, not going to sell it now"

Instead of worring just phone them up tomorrow and ask them.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

Seems a bit odd that it says Sold STC anyway? I would expect it to say Under Offer instead.
As Takeaway Addict says, you'll have to wait until tomorrow and phone them, but let us know what happens! Best of luck and hope it was you who got it.Mortgage received 21/12/2018

 Current mortgage - £260,276

It is a mistake to discuss with finance person linked to Vendor's EA, at least until after your offer is accepted. "find out if you can afford it" means "find out if you can afford to pay more than you have offered so far."0
-
The first house I put a offer on I did not hear back from the EA, the house was marked Sold STC after couple of days, I called the EA who informed that the other offer was higher than mine and the seller decided to accept it. I asked if this was legal and was pretty much told off by the EA who said that it is up to the seller to decide what he wants to do with the offers.0

I'd be phoning up and saying "I'm surprised no-one has phoned to tell us our offer has been accepted, but I see it has been (ie because you've marked our house as sold). Good:T. What's next?"
That way, you'll find out whether it is indeed you that its been marked as sold to on the one hand OR on the other hand (if they've been too inefficient/uncaring to tell you the result of your offer) you will hopefully have them squirming with embarrassment and someone will get a rocket for not having come back to you to say your offer was turned down.0

Rang up, the house has been sold allegedly, yet didn't tell us another offer has been put in.
The estate agent said "oh, there's other houses" to which I just laughed, no way will i ever deal with BEALS Estate Agent (worthy of name and shame)
So now to write a letter of complaint, then to Property Ombudsman. This has really put me off ever trying to buy a house again.
Clearly, if another party is involved, then they are selling their house through Beals, and it's preferential treatment, which is unfair0

Stop eating sour grapes and grow up.
I saw several houses I was interested in that sold even before getting to Rightmove. That's how the market works - estate agents do have preferential customers, whether we like it or not.0

Saying someone needs to grow up, is always from someone who needs to do the same. Looking at your previous posts, I bet your an EA
They have signed up to the Property Ombudsman, and have failed to follow the rules.
So please explain why I need to grow up? Your basically saying everyone on MoneySavingExpert to grow up, as us britains are always getting flogged off daily and it needs ot be fixed0

 :rotfl:
What I'm trying to say is move on and forget it. Don't let this bad experience upset you - it's not worth it. You can complain to the ombudsman as much as you like but it won't bring that house back. I speak from personal experience, and no I'm not an EA.0

I think when you become stuck in the grind of a long frustrating chain , or other house buying/selling problems you tend to become a bit blase to the whole thing , i think that`s what Tancred’s getting atNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0
