Flight delay compensation

Experienced delay in july of ba flight from gatwick to orlando of 4 hrs.
When we went to book in on-line the night before the flight, the flight time had been put forward by 4 hrs. Unfortunately by this time it was too late to amend our flight from glasgow to gatwick to compensate, so had to endure a lengthy wait at gatwick.
Have made a claim to ba and their first response is to offer us £400 vouchers for our family of 4.
Do other readers think this is on the low side and am i entitled to ask for this in cash, as i know for a fact we will not be flying anywhere during the valid dates of the vouchers offered.
Don't like being picky, but its not as if i'm claiming for airport meals or the damage caused to one of our suitcases

you say the flight was "put forward by 4 hours", do you mean "put back/delayed" or did the flight leave 4 hours earlier than planned
You need to find out whether this was a reschedule or a delay. If a reschedule, when were you advised of this, if a delay what was the reason for the delay
Have a look over at the BA thread and start with the FAQs0 -
This sounds as though they rescheduled the flight. If they did so in advance, technically there is no delay because the plane left at the time planned. If the flight was delayed because of a problem which occurred the day before and they were just being kind advising you in advance, there may well be a claim unless there were extraordinary circumstances. Did other passengers talk of a 'delay' or are you the only ones who appeared concerned? It may be that a flight schedule change had occurred some time earlier than the day before, did you ever check 'manage my booking' in the months before, which would have shown the change?0
